Poor Sewald. That was about as hard as he throws (94), up, and off the plate and Raffy still takes him to Tater Town. There is no possible way to pitch him. He's like Vlad.

I feel like people in the thread didn't pimp the Refsnyder play enough. it that was Betts, everyone would have gone crazy. Wake up people !! I'll add that I'm looking forward to seeing the replay after the game.
Really looking forward to it !!
Just saw it. Amazing. Classic. If only it didn't have a Mazz soundtrack over it... not to mention DOB not remembering that Arroyo had been pinch-hit for by JBJ in the top of the inning.
Refsnyder came up as a 2B but he's been playing almost exclusively on the grass since 2018 (when the Rays acquired him and moved him out there) and he's clearly gotten the hang of it.

Get him a top of the line ice cream machine and he’ll take 10 mill per If the Sox sign him to a big long term deal, I'm hoping he doesn't get his own ice cream machine. He seems to be staying in shape. Hopefully, that carries over once he signs a long term deal.

$200 on Devers to Win MVP pays $4000. What do y’all think? Is it still at that price? If so, I'd be in. I kind of doubt he's still 20:1 while being clearly in the top 3, a third of the way into the season.

Having watched the full replays, I have to say that the royal blue and yellow unis that the M's wore today are 100x better than the awful teal and navy of their current unis

I think this is the best defensive play I’ve seen from the Sox in years(post-COVID). Do I have this right? I remember JBJ and Mookie doing insane things in the OF, but this has to be right up there??

I think Judge already has it won if he stays healthy. Isn’t judge due for a breakdown soon? He’s overdue, but he’s also in a contract year, so all bets are off. Meanwhile, the Yankees are going to have to pay him so much more than they anticipated for his decline years now.

It's right up there, JBJ had that catch in 2018 to end a game against Baltimore that was insane. Reffys catch is spectacular in that the ball is past him, the dive is angled toward the fence.

JBJ probably would have been camped under it waiting to catch it. Franchy would be farther from it than Al dropping under Steph.

Peter Abraham helpfully reported that the 8-2 West Coast trip was the best since 1995, when they went 8-3. One hopes that none of his former math teachers are Globe subscribers.
They also went 8-2 in 1980, but that was after going W, L, rainout in Min, and then a travel day.
In 1977 they went 9-0 (without a travel day!) on the way to going 16-1 and and taking a 3.5 G lead over the O's on August 16. They then went 1-8 and fell to 2 games back of the Yankees (tied with the O's) and of course finished that way with 97 wins (I had forgotten--still tied with the O's -- the MFY's went 25-11 and the Sox and O's went 26-12. Crazy).
