Arauz will either clear or he won't. And I will have lunch.
Whitlock obviously the big story. There's a lot more than the arm involved in being "stretched out" as a starter. He'll likely come back in the bullpen, perhaps even for the rest of the season with Sale and Paxton ramping up.

A Whitlock IL stint seemed inevitable.
The interesting note is who they call up when it's Whitlock's turn to start. Winkowski or is it Bello's first taste in the majors for 2 starts?

He’s been limping around so I’m glad they’re giving him some rest

Arauz was claimed by the Orioles. Smart move by the Orioles. As much as it's been frustrating having watched him as he's struggled to progress into a regular MLB player, he's still only 23 and has consistently put up average-to-better walk and strikeout rates.

I think the O's will be a good opportunity for Arauz as well. As you mentioned, he's only 23 and he should have the opportunity with the O's to progress. He wasn't going to have any consistent time with the Sox.

I rather doubt Arauz is going to have much more value than Michael Almanzar or Jason Garcia had...
Should be a good move for him, though.

No big loss. The Red Sox have much better options such as Fitzgerald, Rafaela, etc.

He's their 14th infield waiver claim in 4 years, per Jon Meoli Rio Ruiz, Hanser Alberto, Jack Reinheimer, Hanser Alberto again, José Rondón, Pat Valaika, Richard Ureña, Pat Valaika again, Ramón Urías, Andrew Velazquez, Yolmer Sánchez, Chris Shaw, Domingo Leyba, Jorge Mateo, Lucius Fox, and now Araúz (That's not to say they're not Fenway South right now but I'm sure there are other fanbases who see their roster and note all their alums there.)
