Me, scanning through spring photos again--"I know I didn't see Elmer in a game, but I could have sworn I had a photo of him with a ball in his hand..." Well, kinda.

Always gotta take what guys post to their own accounts with an enormous grain of salt because it's the highlights, but gotta admit that ERC posted some absolutely nasty pitches to his IG stories yesterday that have me intrigued.

Had a big guy on the high school baseball team who used to often throw a football...claiming that it added velocity. I recall players calling his fastball "the pill" because it was so hard it looked that small to batters.

So not terribly surprising, but the complex teams appear to be running 4-man rotations. Makes sense given that they have 2 days off each week - better to piggyback guys and keep them on regular schedules, plus in the FCL you avoid a guy pitching against the Twins every single week (they play every Friday and Saturday, and with 5 games a week, a 5-man rotation means the Friday and Saturday starters are pitching against the Twins every time out).
Current AWOL list: FCL: Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz DSL: Starlin Santos, Dennis Reguilo, Yizreel Burnet, Frank Astacio
Also, in the DSL, Helison Mota and Kelvin Diaz started on Monday and Tuesday last week and haven't played since. Diaz, in particular, is probably a guy who's up if there are two FCL teams.

Second good start for Willian Colmenares. 11-1 K/BB ratio now.

Bleis with an RBI double in his first AB and then steals home on a double steal.

Hate that every hit by one of our guys means one of our pitchers stinks

Any guesses on Portland rotation this week. Gonna try to catch a game in Reading. Would like to catch Groome or Murphy. And, get a selfie with Ceddanne!

Tough to tell because they're apparently bringing up Brian Van Belle, per his IG. Presuming he stays on his regular day and replaces Hart in the rotation (which seems likely after Hart got rocked last week), it'll look like this: T - Murphy W - Groome Th - BVB F - Santos Sa - Kennedy Su - Murphy You can bet on Murphy and Groome the first two games. After that is when the addition of Van Belle makes it guesswork.

buddy of mine threw a football before games because it helped with his changeup Sox reliever Okajima used to start flipping this large, ping pong looking paddle in the BP back and forth with his LH (pitching hand) very quickly starting around mid game. He did this every time saw him at The Trop, like some kind of wrist flexing for his pitching wrist if he was called upon to warm up.
