Maybe its just me, but it seems that this year there is much stronger starting pitcher depth.
When I'm looking at the gameday thread, I'll make a mental note to check out results later for 'pitchers of interest'.
This year, many more games are jumping out at me.
Each starter today for example I could see fulfilling a role in the show.

No, not just you; I think this is objectively true, not just compared to last year but in a general sense, at least in the 10-15 years that mean anything to me. They had some talent during the Papelbon/Lester/Sanchez time, Buchholz overlapped there for a year, iirc (also some relievers like Manny Delcarmen and Craig Hansen in the mix), but I don't think that time had the depth the system has now. Almost every day has at least two pitchers I'm very interested to see, especially now that I'm the driver and sole occupant of the Kyle Stroup bandwagon after a single impressive game by him ...

Didn't know I had competition for driving the Kyle Stroup bandwagon but glad there's another member!

Absolutely, by my count 4 of the 5 starters in each league have a certain level of intrigue with the boys from Portland and Greenville currently providing a significant level of intrigue.

I think that the resurgence of Anthony Ranaudo may have a lot to do with the feeling of top flight depth. Add Ranaudo to the two former Dodgers prospects and Matt Barnes and right there you have a potential 2016 rotation with a hell of a lot of upside. The second tier of guys who are second tier only because they are further from the show (Light, Buttrey and of course Owens) and you have the looks of a tremendously diverse minor league system.

Great...I'll add the four starters above, include Owens as a fast tracked superstar, load the pen with the starters we didn't have, add to my D and speed line up and get hammered, Hammerhead, with lectures on 'how this never happens'.

Is this even English? Posting on a message board is not rocket surgery and you had issues three times in this one thread.....

I thought my humor came across. I intended no offense. I'm not sure about the debounce triplicate thing above. I'll watch for it in the future.

It's an even lighter schedule now. Greenville postponed. Pat Light's next start will have to wait until tomorrow

Workman settled down nicely after the first and the offense for the dogs is impressive but the curse of the classic continues for the Xman.
Maybe some balmy Arubian breezes are needed.

Good outing for Hernandez after a rough 2nd inning. 84 pitches over 4.2, 4 hits, 2 BB, 5 Ks, 6:2 GB:FB

I was at the Pawsox home opener tonight at McCoy stadium, heres what i noticed that might help.
Kyle Gibson looked great the fist three innings of the game, he had sharp stuff late movement fastball was hitting 92-93 consistently while topping out at 94.You could tell he started wearing down in the 4th inning because he was leaving his pitches up in the zone(they where all down in first 3 innings).
David Ortiz's two hits where both seeing eye singles nothing hit hard at all. He looked very weary while running the bases and seemed to limp to third base on Mark Hamilton's double in the 5th inning. On Drew Sutton's RBI single he(ortiz) got a bad read off the bat but did make it home.
Iglesias' Home run was an inside fastball by Gibson, he used his quick wrists to get the barrel of the bat in the zone and pulled the ball right down the Left Field line. He didn't have many chances defensively where everything was routine grounders to him. Also what stood out more than the HR was the play in the 5th inning by hustling down the line to beat a potential double play. he made solid but not hard contact grounder to SS and hustled right out of the box, while last year that would have surely been a double play.
Mark Hamilton's swing is so long it reminds me of old friend Aaron Bates, we'll see decent power numbers but a ton of strikeouts.
Both Brentz and Lavarnway just had routine nights off (not injury related at all)
hope this helps out

Agreed i saw him a lot last year at AA New Britain and in my opinion i feel he's going to be better than Rosario and Sano. Arcia also is a pretty decent right fielder he has a good arm and decent range for his stature.
