Nick Northcut with another home run. I believe that sets the Greenville record.

Nick Northcut with another home run. He'd predictably come back down to earth. Since May 24 (start of Jersey series), he's hitting .188/.260/.410 in 158 PA with a 33.5% K rate and 9 HR (3 of which came in one game with one the next day, so a lot of 0 HR games in there after his crazy first couple months). .220 BABIP.

Another nice outing by Eybersson Polanco: 4IP, 1H, 0ER, 2BB, 5K
On the year: 26.2IP, 14H, 6ER, 10BB, 29K

Wyatt Olds with 9ks in 4 innings today. I know the statline isn't pretty but I'm still intrigued by him.

Question for those who might know better, if it wasn't for the logjam of guys in this prototype in the system would Kavadas be at AA already?

If you're implying he may have started in Greenville if not for the presence of Binelas and Northcut, I see what you're saying but I think they'd have made it work. Also disagree there's a logjam. Nobody in Portland is holding him back at 1B.

I don’t think it’s out of the question to see Kavadas in Portland at some point this season, but it’s a bit early now.

I used to think the description of an "unathletic guy at 1b, all he can do is hit" was a derisive comment about value. After the past two years, I've come to realize it was a high compliment.

I mean, yes and no, right? There are 22 1B (per FG) with a wRC+ over 100. There were 23 last year, and 17 with at least 20 HR. Jesus Aguilar hit .261/.329/.459 with 22 HR and he's kinda just another 1B. To make it and stick in MLB as a 1B, you HAVE to hit and hit well.

This all assumes he'd have hit as well at Greenville all season as he is now as well.

Interesting. He's been moving around a lot recently. Bunch more 3B for example.

EDIT: nomar beat me to it...

Jeez I totally agree with this but the Sox apparently don’t.
