Happy Monday! I hope Romero and Coffey reporting last week will lead to them getting some game time in the next few days.

Happy Monday! I hope Romero and Coffey reporting last week will lead to them getting some game time in the next few days. With all the HS talent this year, just exposure to camp will be huge for their development.

Do we think Brannon has the highest ceiling of anyone in the class? Probably lowest floor too though.

A+++ signing job by the Sox staff. Yep. I had no expectations of getting this many draftees signed, so this is pretty exciting. Great job by everyone involved. It will be interesting to see where our resident prospect evaluators think the new players fit into our rankings.

No chance either of these two takes the 96K or is there a shot one does? I assume the JC player signs at some point.

Dirt dog that’s 96k on top of 125? That’s not bad . 221k.
That’s like 6th rd money. Throw in a scholarship. How about a paid trip to see Papi in the DR. Lol
Travis Sanders will not sign with us. On Instagram not on mention of the Red Sox, I think to him going to Texas Tech is his dream.
That 18th rounder is not gonna sign, not one mention of the Sox. But I am happy.

Reggie Crawford got $2.3m from the Giants. Jake Misiorowski, a RHP who I was hoping for at 41 got $2.35m from the Brewers to eschew a spot in the LSU rotation. I guess that's about half a mil more than what Coffey got, so might not have fit in the overall budget. I’ll still root for him, I know Kumar is gonna kick ass. I hope we can get him in a major deal in the future. The Sox can watch his development from afar.

Projected not to sign 13. Gavin Kilen 14. Travis Sanders No chance either of these two takes the 96K or is there a shot one does? I assume the JC player signs at some point. The only way they were signing Kilen is if something went sideways with Roman Anthony or Brooks Brannon and they had a ton of leftover money to throw at him.

He wasn't going to without 1st rd money. He had such a great hit tool. It was a solid draft.

For someone more familiar with the draft-pick negotiation process:
Do you think the players drafted in the first 10 rounds who sign weeks later are actually negotiating or do you think it's more likely medicals/logistics holding up the deals?
I'd imagine that the Red Sox discussed outlines of deal prior to drafting most of these guys, that's why I ask. (of course they didn't for their #2 pick last year, but that may have been a game of chicken where everyone lost)

Not really negotiating for the most part. It just takes time to get all of these deals done. Dominoes need to fall to let the next steps in the process happen.
It's kind of incredible they get this all don't with this many guys in less than 2 weeks.

Less time for puffing up and bluff games from both sides, which has to go on. Some, like Boras taken to a new art form has to hate every minute of the shortened signing period, knowing he can't fully play his games, others also. Same with teams.

The Guardians have announced that they have signed all 21 of their draft picks.
Is that a good thing?
