7/26 Gameday Thread: It's Just a Mata of Time

I was just coming here to say I had a feeling that Mata might be moving up. Where are you seeing that Mata is starting for Portland?

Also, Nick Northcut might be moving up, which could seem to indicate a string of moves.

I knew Northcut was due a promotion.

On the season: 24.2IP, 14H, 4ER, 6BB, 32K.

I'm the farthest thing from a scout so take it all with a million grains of salt but is there something weird with the hand path on his swing or was it just because he had to reach for the pitch?

Interesting video. It was taken roughly from where SteveofBradenton and I were sitting today. There was an milb photographer behind us so perhaps that was his doing.

Bleis' single was a sharp liner to the right fielder. Later he nearly left the yard with a drive caught at the left field fence...wind blowing in.

Of note, he tracked down a couple of long line drives to left center with a long, gliding stride. If one can characterize it as such, his lope was pretty.

I never saw Joe DiMaggio play, but recall descriptions of his fluid outfield running style. Bleis has a grace about him when he runs after balls in the field....fast, but not hurried...silky.

I was thinking Brainer Bonaci looks bigger and stronger than I assumed. He responded by dropping a home run over the right-center field fence.

He also had a funny/scary moment on the basepaths where he slipped going around second on Mayer’s double, tried to go back to second where Mayer was standing, turned to run to third, and slipped and fell again.
