They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Always fun when you have a series around the deadline where guys could trade dugouts mid-series. I will be quite sad to see it if JD/Vaz do that, but at least an interesting side plot.

I'll be surprised if Eovaldi makes his start.

Eovaldi has to be scratched in the next few hours. Right?

If he let's the coaches and players ride this out, and it fails, wouldn't it be more fair to fire Cora? That said, I don't think anyone should be fired.

The team is what it is. We're really just going to play out the string and not acquire assets that likely won't be here in 2023 and get better long term? The team is .500. They're 3-7 since the trade deadline including an historically bad night. They're not healthy and not expected to get all that much healthier and even if they were, they're about a 20% of even being in the playoffs. They had one really good June. That's it. April they were under .500, May they were at .500 and July they were under again. At least be buyers then. You want to sell being competitive to the fans? You want to give this core a chance? Go buy pieces then instead of doing nothing.

just got a notification from MLB Red Sox opened my phone super fast to see it wasn't a trade it was our lineup and somehow Yolmer Sanchez is getting AB's again. We have to have the worst 7-8-9 in baseball right now. Franchy-Bobby-Yolmer.
Why are we waiting to call up Casas?

I mean...was it fair to fire Grady for listening to Pedro? The only question that matters is: Is Cora the right person to manage the Red Sox in 2023 and beyond? (…as far as who the manager is…. There are plenty of other questions)

Only reason Eovaldi pitches today is because the acquiring team wants to see him one more time to see if there's an uptick in velocity and see how his stuff is looking.

They really can't be dumb enough to risk him getting hurt tonight. Are they?

So, we're playing CVaz's new team! Astros might not need the trash cans tonight.....ESPN just mentioned that Vazquez participated in the Red Sox pre-series meeting about how they were going to pitch the Astros hitters. Then after the meeting he was traded to the Astros.......so he can now tell all the hitters what to expect.

I'll wait for the game the begins, meanwhile I am watching the MFY game and there are more former Sox prospects in the lineup than MFY own.

They really can't be dumb enough to risk him getting hurt tonight. Are they? If you're a team about to send some sort of prospect for a playoff push and have seen Eovaldi have an 11+ ERA and diminished stuff, would you prefer to trade for him now or give him 1 more start to see if he's improved?

this espn broadcast is so annoying already, they are playing up the drama of the trade deadline and acting like the team is distraught at the front office
