David Hamilton scored from second base on a ground out to second. He can really fly.

Speaking of speedy Hamiltons, Billy managed to put up 11 WAR over 5 seasons without ever managing to hit meaningfully better than JBJ is this year. I'm just sayin...

I know we have a much more highly regarded farm system (according to various analyses) - it's surprising to have two teams slightly over .500, one slightly under, and one with a pretty awful record. Call ups? Injuries? Underachieving?

You know I agree but I forget which one it might be bleacher report they still have us at 20. That’s hating to me.

Call ups? Injuries? Underachieving? Wins not prioritized? possibly, though I would think that would be something one would want to build on for the players. Seems like it may be a depth thing too - I glance at the box scores daily - strikes me that some of the lesser pitchers really get lit up, leading to so many losses.

Call ups? Injuries? Underachieving? Come on, man. You've been visiting here long enough to understand that's not how it works. Usually the teams with the best records are the ones filled with old-for-their-circuit non-prospects. How good do you think Portland's record would be if they'd left their opening day rotation in place rather than challenged them all with a promotion? Or Salem if they'd left Kavadas there to mash at a level he's clearly too advanced for. Binelas struggling with his adjustment in Portland doesn't make the system weaker than him continuing to rake at Greenville. The only place where I'd say a losing record reflects a talent gap in the current organization would be with Greenville's pitching staff, but it's not like signing a couple veteran arms to fill that gap would've made the system stronger.

Another factor is that player and therefore system evaluations are usually made with age as a major consideration relative to levels. Having several age advanced players should skew the win/loss records negatively.

David Hamilton scored from second base on a ground out to second. He can really fly. After the Sox acquired two minor league speedsters from SD at the deadline, Hamilton is like, "hold my beer..."
EDIT: I forget her name but Portland's one-woman booth does a really good job. She should be checking out the rental market in Worcester...
