Love to see it. Wonder what the counter moves are going to be, and if Bleis to Salem is coming soon?
My guess with the Greenville moves would be Lugo and either Big Joe or Niko Nukes to Portland. Wonder if Koss moves up to Worcester as well.

Re: Mayer, I think lots his doubles and fly outs will turn into HRs and Doubles after leaving the cavernous Salem Park, on the other hand he might be flirting with a 35% K rate.

Looks like we may not be seeing much of Lugo at SS in Greenville this season . More opportunity for Paulino and Bonaci at Salem.

Re: Mayer, I think lots his doubles and fly outs will turn into HRs and Doubles after leaving the cavernous Salem Park, on the other hand he might be flirting with a 35% K rate. It's likely the K rate will get worse, and it might even look problematic right after his promotion. But been nothing but impressed with his ability to make adjustments so far and I'll bet he continues that trend in Greenville. Also, totally agreed on the power. It's coming, and it's coming better and quicker than I think most pre-draft evals had on him.

Exciting that both guys seem ready for the promotion - definitely be interested in the countermoves. You almost have to promote Lugo, don't you? You also need both Kavadas and Jordan getting at-bats, so do you have Joe Davis go back to Salem to round out the rosters?

Re: Mayer, I think lots his doubles and fly outs will turn into HRs and Doubles after leaving the cavernous Salem Park, on the other hand he might be flirting with a 35% K rate. I think you need to get up to speed, my friend. K rate was a concern earlier on, but he cut that to a half decent 23% in July and just 7% in August. The trend is your friend. This is even more impressive considering that the large majority of pitchers he's faced have been older than him (not sure who or in what thread, but someone - maybe SoxStats - posted those numbers). Also, promotions are generally made based on goals and progress towards same. Pretty sure the staff in Salem know why he's cut the k-rate and they are encouraged by it. His combined July & August numbers (114 PA's by my count): 19% K-rate 25% BB-rate 0.76 K/BB Sure, he may struggle a bit at first in Greenville, but your 35% K rate has no rational basis.

It has actually. Consider this: - With the elimination of short season ball, the pool of talent in Low A got diluted significantly, he’ll be facing a much better stuff in High A. - His StatCast numbers are all elite expect for 2 things: - He chases a lot at 28.2% O-Swing% (That’s in the 55th percentile) but it looks like he’s been adjusting lately with the huge spike in walk rate.
- He whiffs at a high clip on pitches inside the zone where his Z-contact% is in the 35th percentile.
I’m fairly certain that he’ll clear the 30% K rate mark but he’s also a 19 yo so that’ll be a good developmental experience for him to build on in the off season.

A question if someone has time to track this down: have any of the position players moved up to Salem from the FCL this year (off top of mind, Gonzalez & McElveny, but I could be forgetting someone) played the day before being promoted?
In other words, would being in the lineup today mean Bleis or Salazar isn't getting promoted for tomorrow? I could see one or more getting on a flight tonight still.

Bryan Gonzalez: last game in the FCL was on Friday, July 1. Promoted on Monday, July 4. First Salem game on Wednesday, July 6. Daniel McElveny: last game in the FCL was on Saturday, July 30. Promoted on Tuesday, August 2. First game was also on the 2nd.

I missed "position players." Why would it be different than pitchers if they're having consistent success?

Mayer's wrist problems earlier this season could have had an effect on his K rate. His significant reduction in K's the past 4 weeks suggest that it was either the wrist or that he has been chasing less or both.
