I am told by someone who was there and would know the players that Bleis did in fact come into that game. He doesn't really believe it either, but he saw it. FWIW, I just confirmed it wasn't him. Do you have an ID on who it was, or no? Edit: the 8/9 box score links to the right Coffey now--were others wrong?

Portland needs to clear a roster spot with the Kavadas and Guerrero promotions. The easy move is send Rangel to the DEV list. They have Scott and Marrero to catch. There is the question of corner infield playing time. Kavadas is 1B/DH only. Binelas, Northcut, and Potts are also rotating through 1B/3B/DH but Potts is the odd man out to the bench there.

No, just the one, so that has been updated in the last 12 hours at most. Do not have an ID on who it was, but it's a team source I'm getting that from.

Yeah I was more expecting an outfielder (McDonough?) given that Portland has more room there and Greenville's got a glut of guys, but Kavadas clearly was most deserving of the bump. Potts definitely seems like the one whose PT is going to get most impacted.

Kavadas is in the Portland lineup, batting 5th and playing 1B.

Good to see this. I think Kavadas should be pushed very aggressively. He's mature and knows the strike zone. Not a whole lot to learn. Let's see if what he has translates to higher levels.

Greenville no hit. Weren’t they no hit earlier this month, too? It's the fourth inning. Edit: And they have 2 hits. You must have an old box up.

Connor Wong with his 3rd HR in 5 August games
Someone needs to be the bad guy and give Plawecki's job to Wong for the rest of the season

Jeter Downs injured himself going for second on a base hit. He was on the ground for a while, looks like he won't be playing for a while.
Couldn't really tell what went on the video

So caught all the way up on PT tracking tonight, doing the DSL. It's a little weird - they're clearly working the backups in more down the stretch, and I'm not sure if they just have multiple guys dinged up by the course of the season or what, but each team has a couple of regulars who have only played sparingly down the stretch. Blue has seen Armando Sierra (their best hitter) and Kelvin Diaz (their leadoff hitter) playing sparingly over the past 10 days or so. For Red, Jose Liriano (their primary 1B all year) and Claudio Simon (a utility guy who played nearly every day) see their roles diminish during that time.
For Blue, I could see it as giving those guys a breather before the playoffs, but Red has been playing for their playoff lives, so that doesn't seem to make sense.
Meanwhile, both teams have starting pitchers down. For Blue, Inmer Lobo has been out since 7/1, and he's been joined by Dunne's boy Yizreel Burnet. Burnet was hurt to start the year, made 5 appearances of between 1 and 2 innings between 7/5 and 8/4, and then shut it down. Disappointing given that he may have been in the U.S. if they had more innings to go around there. For Red, Cesar Ruiz hadn't pitched since 6/30, and he's been joined by Alvaro Mejias, who hasn't pitched since 8/2.
