PawSox starter TBA as Khert piggybacked Rubby yesterday. They'll have to tap the bullpen for today's starter (Beato?). Wondering if it could be Franklin Morales. I don't think Lackey is ready for yet for rehab assignment.
Question: Does a rehabbing player count against the roster limit?

Franklin Morales pitched two days ago, so it sure ain't going to be him.
PawSox have some moves to make if Bradley is going to be activated today. My guess is that Godfrey comes off the TIA to make the start and Kehrt goes on it (Beato and Rowland-Smith are the only RP with >1 day rest). As for the hitters, my guess is that Linares strains his calf on the way to the field today. He hasn't played in the field since 4/13, so he might actually be dinged up, although my guess is he's at the back of the OF line.

Lackey and Morales are pitching Mon. for Portland. A rehabbing player does not count against the roster limit. EDIT: great minds ... I agree with Chris on Linares. Great problem to have - JBJ, Maier, JHaze, Brentz as your AAA OFers, with Hassan on DL.

Linares to Portland, Bermudez to Portland DL. Makes it more likely that Godfrey will be activated for tonight's PawSox game IMO.

Haeger added to PawSox roster, not Godfrey.

Bogaerts double, Shaw RBI single, Linares home run, Almanzar home run. 4-0 Portland.

Linares to Portland, Bermudez to Portland DL. Makes it more likely that Godfrey will be activated for tonight's PawSox game IMO. This should effectively kill any talk to Linares being a factor on the MLB roster. He's seen as fungible ML outfield depth. This is the second year in a row he's been sent to Portland to make room in Pawtucket for other players.

Didn't Almanzar get fat and move to first base? Is he looking like a third baseman for real? Back at 1B today (Friday).

Any early reports on Bard's velocity? He went 2 innings last night with one K and didn't allow a run.

You're right.....He has one seemingly effective day followed by a bad one or two. I didn't mean to suggest that I thought one decent stat game reflected that he is effective and ready. I was mainly interested in any info on his velocity readings...whether they might be spiking a bit. It is hard to envision a guy one year throwing 100 and dropping, at his young age, 6-7 mph and losing control to boot....unless there is some injury. Reports are that he is physically fine so we'll see. He is probably never going to be a pinpoint guy so, to be effective, he will need high octane. It is also a bit disconcerting to see the much-heralded Rubby continue his spring struggles.
