Really think Valdez and Hamilton could spend some time up. Especially if injuries. Hamilton should pinch run everyday. If Duran could go back to 2B or figure out LF (not CF!), they, along with Story could steal bags all day. Speed will kill. Paxton will be great in BP. Yoshidas D can’t be nearly as bad a Hanley, and will be an OBP machine. Turner will be a big improvement over JD (800+ OPS).

I'm bullish on everyone. Everyone.
And in other news, the sun will rise tomorrow morning.
Seriously ... no one has mentioned Trevor Story? I'm calling a return to his pre-2021 form and maybe even his health. sWAR is fWAR adjusted for situational hitting.
PA sWAR Per600 2016 415 3.1 4.5 2017 555 2.5 2.7 2018 656 4.9 4.5 2019 656 5.5 5.1 2020 259 2.0 4.7 2021 595 3.3 3.3 2022 396 2.1 3.2 There's 2 to 3 extra wins of team improvement.
Notstarboard mentioned Story above.

I'll be crazy and throw out a name, Christian Arroyo.
Maybe he goes out and hits .270 with 35 doubles and 15 HRs and strong defense at 2b.
I believe he's capable of it, but can he stay healthy enough to do it?
I'm wondering if Bloom figures that Story can handle SS and that Arroyo is capable of being an average to above average regular
Of course one or both of these can be dubious assumptions, and I feel uncomfortable predicting this but I do think Arroyo is capable of playing better or more importantly more than expected.
If that's Bloom's plan, then perhaps he saves money in not signing Segura or Elvis and he brings in a capable (YMMV) backup who can play regularly if need be without being horrible, a guy who actually loves playing in Boston, a guy like Jose Iglesias, to back up both 2b and SS and be ready to step in if issues arise

I am a Red Sox fan and hope everything written happens and all our players outperform their expectations. This why ownership understands and uses our passion as a fan base against us. They know we can't wait for the bus to leave for spring training, pitchers and catchers, full spring training, opening day and of course the season. The Henry group have gone from being excellent owners to being owners who care little about their fans. They are a big market team with the resources to compete and to provide their fans with a roster than should be competitive. I am sad because as a fan I don't see how we move up from last place in our division.

I'll throw out another name, with a caveat - only if he's coming out of the pen. Kutter Crawford could take a step up. I'm not convinced he's more than a #5 starter, but maybe, just maybe, he could be a 7th/8th inning possibility, although more likely I can see him being a multi-inning 6th/7th get six outs type of reliever and having success with that.
So I'll nominate Kutter Crawford as a possibility.

I genuinely don’t think the Rays or Orioles are better than them. I find them all to be on the same tier

So I'll nominate Kutter Crawford as a possibility. It sounds like Kutter will probably fill that role you as you’ve laid out - but it’s interesting to me that Crawford was bit of a Nick Pivetta facsimile during his brief stint as a starter. Crawford (as a starting pitcher): 8.07 K/9, 2.93 BB/9, 1.47 HR/9 - 5.43 ERA, 4.51 FIP ~5 innings per start in 12 starts Pivetta: 8.77 K/9, 3.66 BB/9, 1.35 HR/9 - 4.56 ERA, 4.42 FIP ~5.1 innings per start in 33 starts Obviously there is a huge difference between the two - Pivetta is an innings eater and way more established as a big leaguer. But I wonder if Pivetta was traded to boost a different part of the roster, if Crawford could do a similar role of grinding out “meh” 5 inning starts with the occasional flash here and there. (See the Houston start for Crawford: www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/red-soxs-kutter-crawford-continues-excellent-stretch/)

The good news about this team, the silver lining, is that they have enough youth where you can bring up a guy like Valdez and in the right situation have him out perform the 0.6 WAR projections from fangraphs. Same thing with Rafaela. Clearly, if anything is to come from this season, it's going to have to come from those guys as well as Bello Whitlock Casas, etc...

For what it's worth, I think there's a real chance that Matt Barnes has a nice bounce back season. Thought he looked much better after returning from injury late in the year, and with the improved depth in the bullpen, AC won't have to turn to him in EVERY late inning, high leverage situation.

Notstarboard mentioned Story above. I have a vivid memory of coming back to my laptop, switching from Excel or Word to my browser, and seeing a finished but never-posted entry in some SP thread, from hours ago. Now I know which post that was!
Not the first time I've done this, BTW.
