Not sure if this belongs here but here's a tweet from a trainer-guy implying that Michael Gettys hit 105 on the radar gun.

Not sure I believe it, but I am intrigued nonetheless.

Not sure I believe it, but I am intrigued nonetheless. I believe he threw it, but it was probably with a running start or something. Doubt it was just straight off the mound.

Not sure if this belongs here but here's a tweet from a trainer-guy implying that Michael Gettys hit 105 on the radar gun. [br Guys, you got it all wrong. If you read his website Trainer Steve has pinned an article with the same picture from Twitter, the article is credited to this very website. " Trainer Steve 'Power Beisbol' Mouzon believes in making his pitchers sweat. Writes Chris Hatfield from the Sox prospects Website.. "The burly Trainer has a motto "To retire the side, you've got to perspire with pride.". Soon Steve jacks up the heat in the workout room. He reaches deep into his leopard print workout pants, which, appear 3 sizes too small for the well put together big man, his hand expertly finds what it was searching for, a strange object outlined by his tight dungarees.....Then he whips it out, he's holding in his hand a NASA Calibrated thermometer for precise measurement of air temperature. The handheld machine beeps and sputters , then the small display reads 105 degrees. This is top notch analytical and physiological work with a young pitcher, this is cutting edge pre-season conditioning. Hatfield writes with Gusto, and he is the most respected Red Sox Prospect Authority in the land. Trainer Steve adds one last tidbit, and this is impressive: "Since Baseball has banned the sticky goo we're going the other way, I'm teaching the guys to discreetly reach under their jerseys and use their pitching hand to cup a handful of the good slimy armpit stuff, yeah load the ball up with sweat...the extra slickness will give yah another 4 inches drop on your curve, nearly 8 inches of horizontal break on their slider ..... And it's 100% legal" Trainer Steve says and began to cackle like a lunatic, disappearing behind a gym mat hanging from the wall... I have too much time on my hands

That device he is holding in the picture is a radar gun you can buy at Walmart. I think he owns two devices, one a thermometer, one a pocket radar gun. www.walmart.com/ip/Pocket-Radar-Ball-Coach-Not-Compatible-with-Pocket-Radar-App/37022337

He really seems like he's ready to do anything to get a leg up on the competition .. He certainly has some very interesting tricks up his sleeve.

Interesting fact, if you drop the radar device from a MFY spy balloon at 60,000 feet it reaches a terminal velocity of......105 mph.

I actually DM'd the guy because I was curious and drinking. "He was doing pull downs. They’re similar to making a throw from the outfield. Off the mound he has been to 93-95 in touch and feel bullpens. He will throw 100+ this year. His mechanics have vastly improved since last season."

IIRC Kopech hit 110 doing the same exercise. So that would seem to be the high water mark. He also hit 104 off the mound. So it would seem reasonable to assume that Gettys could top out at 98 to 100 off the mound, which lines up with the above comment
