Sherriff, Crook, Shugart, Sogard among those in Worcester.
Kicking myself for not tweeting that Rafaela was not.

I'm most interested to see if Coffey and Brannon made it to Salem.

I have tickets to the Sea Dogs vs Yard Goats in Hartford on Saturday, May 20th. What are the chances I'll get to see Mayer suit up for Portland?

Who's in the NC/SC area and wants to join me for a game in Greenville this spring? I go semi-regularly and I'm fond of the LF line seats near the park because the kids can play in the playground while I supervise and it's shaded so you don't sweat your balls off...

I'm just hoping he'll be promoted before the 20th. Last year, the first legit, non-XST-to-Salem, non-MLB promotion was German on 5/24, and he was a guy we thought would start in Worcester who also missed some time the first month. Next was Walter to Worcester on 5/31. In other words Mayer would probably need to DESTROY the South Atlantic League abs even then it rises to improbable from unlikely.

Grass green. Water, wet.
Kidding, I love Rob. But yeah, could've told you that months ago.

I never saw him in a lineup for the games I shot, and while he was with catchers doing drills I'm not actually sure I saw him catch in them.

Do we know where Yorke is for sure yet?

Thoughts on each of the affiliates
Worcester - potentially strong staff - esp with Whitlock in rehab there - and maybe Bello and Paxton. Pen is a real mix of this and that. Best watches - Valdez, Dalbec, Hamilton and Duran - eventually Abreu too
Portland - pitching...we shall see. Lots to watch with the bats - Kavadas, Yorke, Lugo, McDonough, and especially, Rafaela
Greenville (only an hour or so drive for me - a drive to see the Drive!) - pitching - we shall see here also. But with the bats - Hickey, Jordan, Paulino, Bonaci, Mayer especially. Should be fun.
Salem - I need to read up more on these players, but Romero, Bleis, Anthony for sure to watch.
I am sure this is a very shallow take and others here will dive/dig much deeper into each team's possibilities.

Some assignments, per Speier: Portland - Rafaela, Yorke, Drohan, Guerrero. Greenville - Mayer, Blaze, Paulino, Hickey, Wikelman Salem - Bleis, Coffey, Anthony, Chacon, Castro XST - Romero (with report to Salem soon), Bonaci (getting up to speed after visa issues and then will go to Greenville) www.bostonglobe.com/2023/03/31/sports/heres-where-red-sox-top-prospects-have-been-assigned-new-minor-league-season-begins/

That’s an aggressive assignment for Guerrero. I’d love to see him take it and run. He debuted in Fort Meyers last year (barely) and is starting the year in Portland this year. They’re essentially skipping Greenville with him. Ian must be thrilled.

We actually discussed that as a strong possibility on the latest podcast. When relievers have the stuff, they can move fast.

Hoping for the best obviously, but I’d be surprised if Yorke is ready for AA. Really??? I am curious why you think this? He hasn’t had success in A+ ball, so I don’t personally see the rush in pushing him up a level. Clearly I’m in the minority here, but if he disappoints at the plate again this year in Portland, his value will take a huge hit. I would rather let him stay in Greenville, rake, and gain some confidence.

AFL is probably what, AA level talent if you average it all out? He made some adjustments and looked good there, I don’t mind him starting in Portland. Could definitely see the other argument though, it’s not baseless.

Could definitely see the other argument though, it’s not baseless. I wouldn't use the AFL as much of a guide this past year. The pitching was unusually low quality as pretty much nobody good needed extra work. That said, nothing I've ever seen about Yorke indicates any lack of confidence. Portland is where he should be. ADD: Keep in mind that Yorke was the one and only player Cora specifically asked to see this past spring training.
