Yoshida sucks. I said it. Let’s have the guy get more than 40 ABs before we declare him a bust, shall we? It’s his first month in a new league, in a new country, in a new playing environment, in new weather. That’s a bit of an overreaction. There are legitimate things to fix. GB rate is astronomically too high. The approach has been as advertised. Give the guy more than a week to fix it.

Turner looked bad a week ago too, but he turned it on in a hurry. I'm not worried about him yet.

Does anyone in baseball ground out to 2nd more than Yoshida? He's a machine. He seems to be a ground ball machine. If I recall, he was advertised as a someone who goes the other way and should take advantage of the wall. Disappointing so far. I guess that controversial fan kept first homerun ball is indeed a rarity.

It's amazing how many teams we've played lately have like 4-5 lefties in their pens. It's been brutal how many in a row they can drop on us, especially on a day like today when we had 6 LHH starters.

That's fair, but he would need a really long and great hot streak to make his current numbers respectable. He was advertised as a guy who really should translate well and so far he's mashing the ball like he's Lars Anderson. His defense isn't really a plus either and the fact he's hitting in the middle of the lineup tells me the Red Sox expected much better production by now.

Yoshida is at like 50 plate appearances - he's making contact, he's making good swing decisions, and he's working a good number of walks. He'll start hitting it on the screws before all is said and done.

Masataka Drew. LOL (sorry, couldn't help myself, please stop rolling it over) This is quite the compliment. Depends on who you are asking. Ha. Add. The JD doesn't care remains one of my favorite faux ballbusts.

Turner looked bad a week ago too, but he turned it on in a hurry. I'm not worried about him yet. Turner has an MLB track record. But I'm in the minority worried about him only because he's 38. Even though his OBP is great and his BA is in line to career norms, his power (so far) is way down. I'm sure that'll climb in time, but I would also worry about an injury to an older player as well.

Credit to Yoshida: he’s only a bit worse than Benentendi this season.

I think Crawford today has given the Red Sox the second-longest appearance by a Sox pitcher this season (after Whitlock yesterday)?

Even if they don't mount a dramatic comeback, going 3-1 in a four-game series is all you can ask for. Still feeling positive about the team.

I knew Kutter Crawford was good when he posted that ungodly 12.80 K/BB ratio in AA in AA. I’ve been a believer since then. You don’t post a number like this by accident.
