The man is 5-0 with a 0.62 ERA and H/IP under 4.5 through five starts, but he didn't have a thread of his own.
Until now.

Pretty incredible that a guy going from 90-92 to 92-94 completely transforms who he can be. Baseball is the best.
Question for those who know...what grades would you put on each of his pitches? Just going off of his updated page, something like 55 fastball/60 change/50 curve/50 cutter/50 command? With room for more?

Cutter may be an even bigger factor than the velo, gives him an even easier time with righties I would imagine (can probably just go cutter/change up with them) This is why you draft good athletes folks!

And improved command. But yeah, you hit it on the head.

I was watching the Cubs-Marlins game earlier today, and couldn't help but notice the many similarities (on paper) between Justin Steele and Drohan; am I crazy to think that Shane turning into the same level of major league pitcher is at all possible?

Off topic, but could Liberatore please freaking turn into something to ease the blow of every Randy Arozarena crucial hit against the Sox?

Crow and Abbott were pitching in the "legal sticky stuff" Southern League too, where pitch data has been bonkers, so massive grain of salt there.

In his Fangraphs review of Sox prospects who might see the majors this year, Longenhagen doesn't have Drohan listed. Not surprising since they have him with a FV of 35. I'd hope they'd reevaluate those lists as the season progresses. If he continues on this track he might just get a look before the fall rolls around.

Yeah I'd be curious where he is on their current starter depth chart right now. They have a lot of depth so it probably won't get there but it's something like: Sale, Whitlock, Kluber, Pivetta, Bello, Paxton, Houck, Crawford and then there's Winckowski, Walter, Mata, Murphy and Drohan. I wonder if they'd consider bumping Drohan up over the AAA guys if they needed a starter right now.

Fangraphs’ prospect stuff is just so behind right now that I’m sure it’s one of those things that hasn’t caught up yet

Before the report from spring training I certainly wouldn't have listed him either. I'm not sure that's all that fair.

Would think if he's healthy and continuing to shove, his promotion to AAA may coincide with Murphy and/or Mata transitioning to the bullpen barring a turnaround by those guys.

The helium has pushed him where he is and quickly - on this site and likely in Longenhagen's understanding also. I just hope that they rework their evaluation as that stuff happens and get it out there. Add: Given the amount of angst the lack of pitching prospects has induced in the ratings of the Sox' minor league system, it would be useful for the team to get some cred for his rise before he makes it to the big leagues.

I just got a ticket to see the Seadogs game, and Drohan, tomorrow night. Figured I better strike while the iron is hot as he may not be in AA that much longer. Also will be my first chance to see Yorke, Raffaella, Kavadas, Lugo etc...

Big "What if", but what if Drohan dominates AAA hitters like he did AA, realistically how long would the Sox leave him in the minors?
I know that development plays a role in that determination, but the Sox biggest weakness at this point is the #4 & #5 starters, if Drohan pitches like he did in AA could we see him in Boston before the All Star break?

I wouldn’t call it a big what if. A lot of teams top talent is in AA. I would pay money to watch our AA vs AAA teams face off lol.

Many teams have their best prospect talent in AA, but that's because AAA is full of MLB depth guys that aren't prospects anymore. The WooSox would smoke the Sea Dogs, IMO.
