Terrible news but he’s young and has a hell of a ceiling. Hopefully he gets great care and can bounce back next year

I guess he's getting labrum surgery, then? At least it's not his throwing shoulder

Must of been a serious Subluxation of the shoulder for the need of Surgery. Guess he had damage to tendons and ligaments. I had a really bad subluxation in my L shoulder along with a broken humeral head. I needed a complete replacement but the subluxation part was also repaired. Very long recovery time. Hopefully all goes smoothly and he’s ready to go by Spring Training. I’ve tried to swing a Bat 1yr post op, felt so awkward.

Getting ahead of myself here, but does this mean he repeats Salem in 2024 or do they push him to Greenville? 126 ABs in Low-A and is 1.9 years younger than average there. Seems like it might be ok to ease him back.

My son had labrum surgery on his non-throwing shoulder while playing college baseball....Surgery in June.. cleared to swing a bat by Thanksgiving.. was in the opening day lineup in mid-march. He had to alter his swing mechanics a bit. Releasing his top hand on the follow thru put his shoulder in a vulnerable position. It wasn't a very fun 9 months for him but he was as productive as every once he got thru it.

Disappointing! Hope this doesn’t end up being too much of a setback for him

What a shame for the kid. Which is another reason why prospects are so hard to predict - who knows if this is a temporary bump in the road or the start of a path that ends in disappointment.
No problem at this point for the SoxProspects rankings, though. Just switch him and Meidroth!!! (Only half joking).
