Duran CF Turner DH Yoshida LF Devers 3B Duvall RF Casas 1B Wong C Hamilton SS Reyes 2B It's interesting that when Duran Duvall and Verdugo all play they put Duran in left and Duvall in center, but when Verdugo sits they move Duvall to right and keep Duran in center.

Yeah they keep throwing everything but the kitchen sink at ss. Bloom is crossing his fingers every day to hear from the scouting department when they feel Maher has graduated AA. Because Nomar ain’t walking thru that door. Xman. , by the way on that contract I don’t want him either but if he did not have the dumbass optouts that DD worked out he would be here another season.
Chang we hardly knew you, Mondesi we have to put on a milk carton (did you see this guy). You know what I love my KeKi, especially when he changes his hair color. He is so cool. GiVE me K, Give me an E , Give me A K , Give me a 6. What’s that spell. K. E K 6 . Or Ke K I , E6

While I fully understand the difficulty of managing a major league bullpen, Cora could not have been serious about winning this game when he turned to Ort, straight faced, in that situation. I truly hate defending Cora's managing decisions, and I'm not going to fully here, but the extra inning rules made that game a near-automatic loss when the Sox didn't score in the 10th. I don't think this particular decision impacted the outcome of the game. I do have a philosophical objection to a manager who gives up on a game before it's over, but I'll see how he manages today before I claim that's what he did last night. No, but starting Kiké at SS once again turned a win into a loss.

That middle infield alignment is interesting Are we sure Cora isn't a plant for Houston? I have no earthly idea what is happening in this guy's brain.
Hamilton has been playing more SS than 2B this year, but he has 95 starts at SS and 69 starts at 2B over the past season and a half. He should be plenty comfortable with both. And if the SP.com writeup is accurate, he should be a much worse defender at SS than Reyes.

He would be a nice offensive upgrade at third base, but at this point given the state of the rest of the infield, I don't think you can sacrifice Devers' glove to get Dalbec in the lineup.
In all seriousness, this is a great discussion. I really like him, and he has just about the best attitude you could hope for given his situation. It's a bit crummy because I think he could fit on a major league roster somewhere, but he actually has a good amount of value to the Red Sox as Devers/Turner/Casas insurance. Maybe the situation clarifies by the trade deadline...

I've always liked him, and I still think he could be a valuable piece. With the potential DHs (Turner, Yoshida), Devers as you said and Casas, he might be able to make a go of it at second if they had an actual SS. He'll probably go to another team and hit 30 HRs. I find it interesting that he's wearing glasses this year. If he's had even a slight vision problem for the last few years, that would affect his reaction time just enough to be late to the ball.

Is there time to get Wilyer Abreu to Minnesota? It'll probably be a Duran, Duvall, Yoshida outfield with Refsnyder and Kiké in reserve.

Wait, is Brandon Walter just the full time #5 starter then? It kind of sounds like he's getting an audition for that role based off that tweet. From what I've read he's been better of lately after tweaking his pitch mix recently. Let's see what the guys got, wouldn't go as far as to say do or die for him right now but he is a 26 year old rookie so clock is certainly ticking if he wants to have a decent MLB career.

Cora continues to baffle me with his decisions. Why not let Walter start the inning clean? He’s a starter so he’s probably be more comfortable
