Charlie Haeger, coming off TJ, from Pawsox to Seadogs. Wright and Aceves activated at AAA, giving Pawsox 13 pitchers, 12 pos players. Bermudez activated off DL at Portland. Gives PORTLAND 12 pitchers, 13 pos players. www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=l_trn&lid=113&sid=t546Theoretically, Lavarnway and the floating Kehrt PM will need a countermove in a day or so. edited once

The Coyle/Cecchini show has been the highlight of the minor league season so far. Coyle has a HR and a BB today. Cecchini has two triples.

Has anyone on the Soxprospects Staff gotten a good look at Ranaudo this year? Is he a visibly different pitcher from last year?

Webster obviously is sad he's still in AAA (sarcasm) To be honest, it was a possibility that he'd be starting in Boston on Sunday until Friday or so, so I'm sure the uncertainty, combined with the letdown, could have played into his performance tonight, to be sure.

A number 5 projection is about 100 ties better then his projection by the end of last year.

89 pitches. 61 stikes. 9 punchouts. 2 hits. The guy looks more than ok to me. .83 ERA so far in AA.
The guy has a rocket pack on.

And fwiw, I got an ok report on his last start. Scout threw a #5 projection on him. Based on what? He was injured last season and really seems to be turning on this year, and he's a guy with a solid pedigree. I'm not saying he's an ace, but this projection makes as little sense as it would one like that for Barnes if he doesn't turn it around.

Not to focus on the negative, but Cecchini has 7 errors already, that's Almanzar territory right there. Anyone know if they've been mostly throwing or fielding errors?

Per Alex Speier: FWIW, reports I saw from yesterday (from non-Speier sources) were 92-95, touching 96, so take Speier's reported readings from yesterday with a grain of salt.

Even without those factors, I'd expect a fair amount of start-to-start variance from a young, great stuff/questionable control type like Webster anyway.

Cecchini can't be long for the Carolina league at this rate. 1100 OPS and more walks than strikeouts? That Portland infield is going to be looking mighty interesting in the near future...
Also, three more Ks for Bradley; he's striking out close to a third of the time in Pawtucket now. Do I need to even make the snarky comment about spring training performances?
