Hey @admins I noticed that the Twitter feed is down and have heard it’s due to Twitter trying to monetize external usage of their content or whatever…
Love that functionality. Is this something you will look to resolve?

Yes we are looking into it. The feature is called Embedded Timeline. It's generally been down for several users for 3-4 hours now. Hopefully it's a temporary glitch. It might also be Elon's means to get more users to sign up for Twitter Blue, but there hasn't been any announcement or communication indicating that embedded timelines will require verification. We'll see, but I suspect it won't be resolved overnight.

While it's disappointing not to have it on the site for now, you can still see the feed in a new window if you click on "Tweets from SoxProspects Twitter."

While it's disappointing not to have it on the site for now, you can still see the feed in a new window if you click on "Tweets from SoxProspects Twitter." Not if you don't have a twitter account. Relatedly, it would be helpful for people to post direct links to articles, rather than just embedding tweets that include the links, since the latter won't be accessible now if you don't have an account.
As a side note, it's funny to me that the current leadership of twitter seems to not understand the basic concept of social media - that the users themselves produce the content. Trying to charge them money for providing the labor that allows the company to function seems pretty unlikely to work in the long run.

Reddit is going through the same thing, except they are trying to screw over thousands of unpaid moderators who do the heavy lifting of each site's administration; there was a widespread strike last month. Exponential growth can only happen for so long, but investors seem to expect it to continue forever. On topic, you should cut and paste the tweet text as well when the tweet is the news; e.g., Chris Cotillo @chriscotillo Niko Goodrum exercised his opt out clause at AAA and is now a free agent. Had been with the WooSox all year.

Still no luck with the embedded timeline. Lots of other frustrated content providers and users.

I think that Musk has admitted somewhere that Twitter is worth about half what he paid for it. So 22 billion down the drain, $22B to go and here comes Zuckerberg. Makes Steve Cohen look like a piker lol.

mike Any further updates at this point? I noticed you've reoriented the page given the unsightly (i say that in jest) nature of the feed pane. Are we looking at a ce la vie outcome here?

Twitter has been non responsive but it's an issue for all users. Not a verification thing. Giving it more time and hoping Twitter comes to its senses.

Brief non-update update. Obviously the embedded timeline still isn't working and it's been about a month. I'm hearing rumblings that they're working on it even though they are not responding to help tickets on the subject. Some content managers have said their feeds have intermittently come back in and out over the past week. Continuing to monitor.

Twitter/X have ignored all requests to fix the Embedded Timeline feature so I'm losing faith it's coming back anytime soon. I am going to remove the Twitter timeline from the site today. I will continue to check every few weeks from here on out because I'd really like to bring it back whenever it works again.

Somewhat good news - embedded timelines are working again. But only for specific accounts and not for Twitter lists. So I re-embedded the timeline across the site with the main SoxProspects account only.

Don't know about anyone else, but my timeline is a mess with tweets ranging between Jan 2021 and earlier this year. Not in a chronological order neither.

I think that's a thing Twitter/X does now if you're not signed in, and it seems to be what's happening there too.

^ Chris is right here. It works if you are logged in to Twitter but it's all messed up if you are not. So we may need to remove the timeline again until it's fixed. Ugh. Extremely frustrating how much worse Twitter is in recent months.

I left Twitter several years ago (with no plans to return) - so the feed showing for me on this site is quite hilarious, actually - kind of like blasts from the past.

Can we wayback it to 2018 feed while we are operating a time machine? Thanks!
X is the most poorly run thing I regularly use. If I limit it to level-headed Red Sox beat, fantasy football news, basketball stuff, and dog/cat videos, I enjoy it quite a bit. Going outside the bounds of that is an awful wasteland. But there's still no better way to find that so-and-so was traded or what's happening in a game I'm not watching. I hope they can get it working again because it's nice to have all your feeds in one place to scroll at my leisure.

For me, I use the different platforms differently.
In X, I follow baseball and politics but only comment or like on baseball topics. That way, my 'for you' tab is almost all baseball. On the general tab, nobody is forcing me to read anything.
In Facebook, family and friends. I might have a general conversation in PM but my main page is pretty much limited to day by day family stuff.
For entertainment, Tik Tok. Whenever I go into tik-Tok, I can spend hours on a variety of topics. I just let it pick what's next if I am interested I'll look, maybe repeat several times then go to the next one. Recently, there's been what is new to me, a new form of Celtic (hard c) music. Uneducated guess here, it started with the song Wellerman and has exploded. Lot's of celtic performers doing similar type music. Very catchy stuff.
For news and local weather, I use the little pop-up at the bottom of my screen. No sports or entertainment, just weather and news feeds. If there's something I want to see, I click on it.

It's terribly unfortunate that a platform which is as useful for in the moment news (including sports) hasn't come along.

you can’t tell me he didn’t buy that site to burn it to the ground so nobody can cyber bully him on it anymore, that’s 100% what he did. It’s downright non-functional
