They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Looking forward to the Sox winning 2/3 here and then blowing their momentum and getting swept by Oakland

The Rangers are 10-15 in their last 25 games, just traded for a domestic abuser, just endured this loss, and are responsible for an architectural travesty. Bad vibes all around.

Have the advantage of the off day. Now that could be negated by who the hell is going to pitch

Any guesses who will the opener today? My best (and hopeful) guess is Bernardino with Murphy as the follow up. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Garza though as opposed to Bernardino given he hasn’t pitched in about a week.
EDIT: forgot that Whitlock is going on the IL. Maybe we see Walter or Sheriff? I’d love to see a Barraclough call up but that would require a 40 man move. Praying a spot opens up by finally putting Kluber on the 60 day.

It would be very un Red Sox like, but I wonder how tempting it would be to go July 4 Bello 4 days rest 5 Barraclough 6 7 8 9 Bello last day. 4 days rest

Given that the team likely wants to be cautious with Bello’s rest, I think the safe move is Walter or Sheriff for now.

I think we'll see Walter whether he starts or is the long man out of the pen. They need length and they wont get that from Sheriff like they could from Walter.
This could set up that Barraclough could get a start or two soon. I'm just not sure how a guy with serious control issues is suddenly going to be able to provide innings.

This feels like probably the least popular opinion in New England, but I think Kluber is worth another shot or two. Yes, he has been terrible this year, but he is a wily veteran and has some new dad strength now. Would be interested to see if he can find his form. Obviously if his command is just gone in bullpen sessions this doesn't fly, but given all the injuries to the rotation, would be interested to see if he can put together a couple of solid starts or long bulk outings. If not able to perform, then easier to put him on the 60 day or DFA him...

It’s definitely the right day to do a bullpen game - game starts at 1:30 but forecast looks pretty bad until like 5 o’clock. If they send out Bello he might go like 2 innings and then iced by a rain delay like what happened on Patriots Day

The Rangers bullpen should be running on fumes after their Monday game. Gotta take advantage of that.

The Rangers are real annoying. Every non-elite prospect that graduates immediately turns into an All-Star and every free agent signing is a wild success. This team should still suck.

Generally true, but I am the opposite of annoyed that Ezequiel Duran has immediately turned into an All-Star, or close to it.

This is great news for three reasons in this order: 1. Whit seems like a great kid who has gone through a lot of injury struggles. 2. It means he's still just as viable as he was a week ago as a potential big part of the The Next Great Red Sox Team. 3. He's still here to contribute in 2023.
