Speier was guest in the 3rd inning.
Chang had a HR, Hernandez with a bigger HR.

Comments by Speier..
Usual about Rafaela but also said his ceiling is very high.
Said Abreau is a major league replacement level player right now.
Comments by me... Van Belle is as good as I've seen him. Lots of ugly swings against his changeup.

After splitting the doubleheader, FCL Sox are third in their division, a game behind the Pirates and a half-game behind the Braves, although all three teams have the same number of losses. Braves also happen to hold the wild card, while the Tigers are a half-game back of the Red Sox, the Phillies one back, Astros 1.5, Marlins 2.0.
Monday: Red Sox and Braves play a huge doubleheader at JetBlue. Pirates at the Rays. Phillies at the Tigers. Marlins at Astros.
Tuesday: Red Sox at Twins. Braves at Rays. Pirates at Orioles. Tigers host Yankees. Phillies host Blue Jays. Marlins at Astros.
Red Sox at least need to win 2 to get in. Lot simpler if they win out.
Playoffs are single-game semifinals on the 24th, then a three-game championship series from the 25th through 27th.

Wilyer Abreu in cf today and Rafaela at SS ( for the 5th time in AAA, the announcer says). Abreu just made a strong throw from lcf. Then Rafaela made a strong throw from the hole at SS, making it look easy. Dalbec in RF.

Rafaela just swung at a ball so far outside it could have hit a left-handed batter--and blooped a line drive down the right field line.

The Wicker Man needs to cut down the walks

The Wicker Man needs to cut down the walks That's the deal with many of our top pitching prospects. Drohan is the same, Perales, too. Limit walks, they look great. Lose the strike zone and they look like very flawed prospects. Very few pitchers can survive with excessive walks.

It was a hybrid-type thing on the cusp between a blooper and a line drive. He just poked it but it carried, and could not be justly called either a liner or a bloop without further qualification. Maybe you could say soft liner with a little rise and fall.

Maybe you could say soft liner with a little rise and fall. That came after I went to sleep but the gameday numbers and pitch location are actually funny and of course, he ended up at second base on the play.

Must not overreact to prospect first impressions. Must not overreact to prospect first impressions. Must not overreact to prospect first impressions. 5-45 with 20 strikeouts combined start for Zanetello and Anderson I know folks are’t being serious, but since I don’t follow as closely… Zanetello was always perceived to be a slight project, right? Great tools but needing experience? So a slow start is predictable? Genuinely asking.

I don't know about any of that, but he'll still be a teenager on opening day 2025. He's got plenty of time to figure things out.

Great tools but needing experience? So a slow start is predictable? Genuinely asking. Yup. If his results were on par with the sum of his tools potential he wouldn’t have been anywhere near being available at the Sox second round pick. Analogous to Anthony in that sense, while still being different players/profiles.

I thought Dean would slide back into the rotation but looks like they're going to work him in a piggyback role going forward.
