Going into tonight the Red Sox starters have thrown the 4th fewest innings in baseball this year, 635.2. The only teams whose starter have thrown fewer innings are the Rockies, A's and Giants, and the Rockies may pass them tonight after this performance by Paxton.

I keep reminding myself that this was meant to be a bridge year from the beginning; doesn't make the current happenings any less disappointing.

Let's see how positive we can make our posts, no matter what is happening. I will start. Nicest day of the summer here in Hendersonville, NC - topped out around 80 degrees, nice breeze, dinner on the deck. Can't get better. I am positive this team $ucks

Not cashing out on Paxton at the deadline stings more and more after every meltdown.

At least Llovera is good.

Here's another good thing - we now know that Llovera is not good at cleaning up messes.

The forecast looks primo for the next week. So hey let's go September summer! Lookin the same here in Maine ! Going to get up to the high 80's here at the coast !

Another positive - this feels good! - we have 7 chances to score 6 runs or more. Plenty of at bats.

Paxton's had a long slow descent to where he is today. Could've made a strong argument that it would have been smart to unload him at the deadline when the overall numbers still looked pretty good...rather than play it 'safe' and pray he'd bounce back.

"Trade Paxton" (and sell in general) crowd, I think you're allowed to take a victory lap now. Trade Paxton? I was on the “why did we sign Paxton” train last year when we were just over the cap. And folks said “oh wait until this year”!

I spent 22 years in Rhode Island - then 5 years in NH/VT (grad school). Loved it. Western NC is very New Englandy in feel (the mountains, less heat - but far less snow)

Which ya WAR is whatever now.

I know the contract was funky, but what’s the total amount of cash the Sox gave Paxton for 96 innings of 4.69 FIP ball?

I was watching a clip of the O's on you tube and remember how I hated Boog Powell for screwing me out of a game I felt I deserved. I was able to find the game by searching his homers. April 20, 1970 Palmer vs Culp rain shortened Powell hit a homer to center in the 5th and they called the game 3 to 2 in the 6th. Crazy out of all the games that was the one I have always remembered because I was so mad at Boog. I never thought anyone would be able to hit it out in that rain. I guess that isn't to positive after all. But it was cool that I could track down why I am cranky even still.

Nobody could have predicted that our entire freaking rotation would all collapse at once. And that includes Bello. Anyone who claims to have saw that coming is full of horse manure

That, as well as the 1-2 year contracts given out to older stop gap types, along with the fact that the top prospects were projected to debut in 2024 at the earliest; it was the narrative for a lot of people.

Aside from 67, those were some lean teams - it was about finding a few players and enjoying watching them play.

The team has no life, almost like they got punted on when winning an important game and now don’t see the point
