They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Lyles has a couple 8 inning-4 runs starts in his last 4 (one against us)
He’s not good but at least he eats innings when he’s not god awful that game (which, in fairness, he’s god awful pretty often)

Greinke has nine starts when he's gone five or more innings and allowed two or fewer runs. He's got a 1-5 record in those starts. For comparison's sake, Kutter Crawford also has nine such appearances, and he's 6-1 in them. His fastball is diminished to the point where the mix doesn't really play anymore, but he's a lot better than a 1-13 pitcher should be.

Either way, not the most dignified end to a HOF career.
I’m referring to Lyles, of course.

Statcast recently released a fielding run value metric where they convert OAA, throwing runs, and catcher defensive metrics to the same scale for direct comparison. Not sure if anyone has looked much into this yet but curious where they get the values from. Is saving a strike really worth 1/8 of a run? That seems really high to me.
It also added Batter Run Value and Baserunning Value metrics which you can see a player's percentile rank in but I can't find actual values or a leaderboard for.

With Hamilton optioned back to Worcester and Rafaela listed as an OF they are only carrying four infielders, which means the dream of giving Raffy a couple days to DH probably isn't going to happen. I wonder too if Turner's foot is bothering him if they decide to cut back his innings and they side Masa into the DH spot against RHP.

Now that the Astros season series is over, watch our chubby boy go on tear because apparently no other team knows how to pitch him hehe

Rafaela and Abreu both up with the team yet Cora is still starting Turner and Duval w/ Yoshida playing the field despite the season being virtually over. As much as I have concerns about Bloom, Cora has been a greater detriment to this team. He seemingly has no interest in playing young guys and helping them develop. I'd be willing to bet he was the reason the Turner trade was axed at the finish line, Paxton/Duval weren't dealt and why JD/Eovaldi/Wacha were not traded last year at the deadline.

Always fun to have lead footed outfielders in KC. Well at least it isn't on turf.

Jasson Dominguez just homered off Verlander in his first at bat...even Yankees fans are having more fun than us these days calling up their youngsters and playing them.

This team died when Barraclough got left in and their play since then shows it.
