Here's how it works for me: Boston Red Sox: love New York Yankees: loathe Braves: strongly dislike (for a variety of reasons: their white-flighting from Atlanta, their ambiguously racist but definitely annoying tomahawk chop, and the fact that they were always on tv when I was a kid and I never wanted to watch them, the 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife of televised baseball) Cardinals: strongly dislike, can't quite explain why Every other major league franchise: about 70% based on what I think of their ballpark, 30% what I think of their city/fans/general vibes. So the Rays are definitely on the top-5 most hated list.
I used to think Jimmy and Rosalind Carter looked like robotic idiots whenever they showed them doing the chop (which Braves fans stole from the Florida Seminoles, btw). As an FSU alum (among others) the chop was copied much later by the Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves. I remember that the Braves were the only MLB team in the south. Everyone had to watch them and still they had a hard fight against the dominance of college and even high school team competition. In fact, this will be true until Nashville? or New Orleans? get a team, as it doesn’t seem right to count St Pete or Miami as true southern cities. Edit: Ooops. Is Baltimore really southern???

TBR hatred is a mystery to me. They've only eliminated us once, in 2008. They do things right. They're not the MFY. I have never actually met one in real life but their fans on the internet are the most insufferable people around. The Rays are the team to choose if you know how to read a spreadsheet but don’t know what any of the numbers actually mean. Talking baseball with them is a nightmare, they all think they’re part of the front office but they don’t have a clue what the team actually does to squeeze the extra value out of the roster. On top of that they’re just generally rude and unpleasant. The end result is a lot of pointless conversations with confidently wrong people speaking in the most condescending way possible.

What are we doing with Rafaela up if we’re not gonna play him. The kid clearly needs to work on his approach and sitting on the bench isn’t gonna do anything for him. You really don’t think some time to see what life in the big leagues is like will do him any good? He gets to see how the big leaguers prepare, get acclimated to the day-to-day grind, maybe even get some pointers on how to approach his at bats. Those are all valuable experiences for a young player. I don’t think he’s gonna get a ton of benefit from a few more ABs against pitchers who aren’t challenging him even in the face of the raw approach at the plate. Might as well let him have a taste of MLB life, even if it’s just as a bench piece.

Good seats still available at the Trop if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Not according to most folks in the South. According to folks in Maryland, well, it depends on who you talk to.

Baltimore used to be the South - below the Mason-Dixon line after all! - but the Northeast continues to creep further and further down I-95 and the border is now somewhere between Richmond and Fairfax County, VA.

Living in NC, Maryland and Virginia feel more south than areas we've lived in here.

Ehh as someone who grew up ibn MD right outside DC, when to college in the south and lived in Bmore for a year.... B-more is way more like Philly and Pittsburgh than anything resembling the south

Living in NC and SC basically since the 1990s (with a few multi-year stints in LA and CT), I've been told that anything "south of Fairfax County, VA is "The South." Wake County in NC sure does feel like a suburb of NYC or LA lately, and especially since 2020 with the all the Covid/tax refugees.
