Watching to see Abreu and Dalbec's Ks - combined 5 yesterday. Hoping as spring training proceeds, this reduces. Abreu is having difficulty making contact, but it still looks like his swing decisions have been solid. Regardless of comments in the offseason, I believe he will need to turn things around before the end of camp in order to make the team. He's been helped by the fact that Duran isn't playing, but if he comes back soon, he's going to have to start hitting. On the plus column, he's made a couple of nice diving catches in the outfield. I'm not sure I believe his range is as good as Verdugo though. In regards to Dalbec, I wonder if there is a chance he loses his spot to someone like Nick Sogard. I know he wouldn't represent a power bat, but he plays all over the infield and some outfield (maybe not well?) and he is a switch hitter/gets on base. He's poked two homers, from each side of the plate this spring. If Dalbec is still striking out 30%+, maybe they want someone who can put the ball in play/get on base more often?

What is latest status on Casas, Grissom and Duran. I feel these are the 3 most important players (and story) as to how well the offence does. I know that Grissom and Duran came in a little behind schedule.

Boy, NESN and the Sox have sure been stingy on the video coverage this year. It's almost like they don't want us to see the team...

Vaughn Grissom is supposed to return on Sunday from the hamstring. This Sunday could be a preview of the starting lineup.

They've been amongst the leaders in the clubhouse for spring training broadcasts. Go try and find an Orioles broadcast and get back to me

Garrett Whitlock's Changeup (as noted by Will Flemming)
2021: .185 BA, .259 SLG 2022: .113 BA, .225 SLG 2023: .331 BA, .546 SLG
It sounds a lot better today!

Roman Anthony with a single.
Whitlock with 2 perfect innings and 4 strikeouts.

Over his first two innings, Whitlock with 14 pitches, 14 strikes, 4Ks, and if Gameday is to be believed, 7 swinging strikes in the heart of the zone.

Any idea when we will see Mayer? Is he due to get some AB’s? Is he hurt?

Roman Anthony with a single. Whitlock with 2 perfect innings and 4 strikeouts. Im at the game today. Whitlock looks awesome. Cant see the speed. Poise, pace and command dead on. Anthony not out of place one bit. What is off are the tigers uniforms. The orange isnt right. Its like deer hunting orange. Looks rediculous.

They only count pitches that result in outs or hits and if it's a K they count it as 3 pitches. And everything is a strike.

I think Raffaella makes rhe catch to end the inning and then 2 bloops

Blizzards39 - Merloni on radio saying Whitlock was sitting 92-93 with the fastball, but humped it up to 95 towards the end. Is that matching the eye-test?

I suppose at this point Boras is waiting for injuries in spring training to expand the market for Snell and Montgomery, but it would be funny if Whitlock and Houck are both lights out and Breslow was like, "you know what Scott, actually we're good."

Is that matching the eye-test? 92-93 sounds solid to me at this point in ST. Don't need him over throwing and hurting himself. Of the whitlock/houck/Crawford/Winckowski combo I feel like Whitlock has the most upside to be a really good SP. I think Houck and Crawford could be too and I get trying it again with Winckowski but I'd be a little surprised if he stuck as an SP but you never know.
