Moving the FCL season up was such a good idea, I'm honestly not sure why it hadn't come together sooner. Probably much easier to keep your short season/XST core in place when there's such a natural lead-in to games, and it allows players that stand out in short season ball more time to advance to greater tests and on the flip side, teams may feel less pressured to push a player up to full-season ball on Opening Day. I'm thinking specifically about Yoelin Cespedes here - I fully expect him to play games in Salem this year, but it's nice not to feel like he's missing out on half a season of development by starting in the FCL.
We could see more mid-season releases than before if the earlier promotion timeline creates roster crunches at the mid-levels of the system, which would be unfortunate, and it sucks that draftees get less time to dip their toes into pro ball (though a lot of them don't end up playing anyway, especially pitchers), but more good than bad for sure in my mind.

Agreed that it's a good thing, but I also think you're overestimating the difference between XST games and FCL games. The difference is basically that we get the results of one.

Grant Gambrell gets the Opening Day start. Interesting choice. And I hope Worcester runs out Gambrell, Criswell, and Van Belle on consecutive days, often. Hell, that's a pretty swell rotation.

I remember when I played high school and college football, the coaches added 1-2 inches to my height!

The perfect system would have to be a cube and adjust for every batter. I seriously doubt it's anything that sophisticated. Even an unchanging rectangle at either the front (further from the catcher) or back (closer to the catcher) of the plate would be far better than any human umpire. Also the rectangle currently used to illustrate good and bad calls; is that rectangle looking at the front or back of the plate? I ask because with some pitchers due to arm angle and the amount of horizontal break on a sweeper the must be pitches which miss in front but would clip the back corner. And with a hammer type curve there must be pitchers whose breaking ball passes through the front but might end up bouncing in front of the catcher.

Gambrell: 4IP 3H 0ER 2BB 7K (83 pitches, 51 strikes, 14 whiffs) One of the simple pleasures of sports fandom - seeing that Vermontsox is the latest poster in a Gameday thread and knowing that likely means something good happened.

Weston Wilson's parents shouldn't be allowed to name their children...
The links for over a week everywhere in SP don't work in the Philippines they get directed to something called comsync which can't be found. I don't know if other have had the same problem. I have to find the articles referenced or in this case the affiliate scores.
