This keeps Criswell in line to jump in as a 6th starter when needed , I assume

They obviously get to it very differently, but here is Houck last night and Criswell today, generally have their pitches moving very similarly.

Yariel Rodriguez looking awfully good in his first AAA start I don’t think his outing today is enough to outweigh him looking so bad in Spring Training that he had to start in AAA as a 27 year old. But I have been low on him the whole offseason so I’m probably just seeing what I want to see.

At last, the prophesied six aces have arrived.

Interesting to see the Woo Sox broadcast giving pitch velocities down to the hundredth place. Haven’t noticed that before. Seeing 95.28 MPH fastballs is a new thing to me.

Ian and Chris discussed it on the new pod and it's true. The Woo-Sox are immensely boring. Well they didn't exactly say that. Even the guys who are ranked are older org-up-and-down types. Particularly the lineup.

Particularly the lineup. I feel like the AAA team has always been kinda boring since I’ve started following the minors, outside of a couple guys a year. It’s mostly just semi-functional MLB depth, if a guy is a bona fide prospect more often than not he won’t stop between AA and the bigs for long.

Unrelated, but outside of some bullpen arms that could contribute, the AAA team puts me to sleep. The Sea Dogs though, I am immensely stoked for.

For me Criswell, a bunch of relievers, Meidroth and newfound Remy Gonzalez. Not much to get excited about. c'mon April 5.

Romy's fun utility depth but checking his stats he's got a .600 OPS at the MLB level with a 2.1% BB rate and 36.0% K rate in 239 plate appearances... but I'll add David Hamilton and Dick Fitts as other names worth watching. Debating hitting up a game when they come to Charlotte at the end of May but unfortunately that's probably a a bit too early for any of the star 3 to get bumped up from Portland even if they're eviscerating the Eastern League.

I'm hoping Yorke's stop at AA this season is short lived and he makes it up to AAA soon enough, he's not as exciting as any of the big 3 but he still is more interesting than any of the other hitters currently in AAA to me. I think Grissom hopefully will be starting a rehab assignment down in Worcester soon too so he'll help in the mean time.
