Cora is a championship caliber manager, and it feels like he will always manage a team to that standard regardless of the underlying talent. Giving your guys off days, using funky lineups, getting cute with the bullpen management, etc. It's one thing if you have a stacked roster and the team responds to what you're doing. It's another when half the roster is filled with second-tier players who really need to be put in their optimum position in order to be passable. If the team sucks this bad for another month, I’d hope they’d let Cora go for decency’s sake.

Can we fire Bloom again? I’m looking back at his drafts, and it just adds to my frustration of what a waste this has been. Jud Fabian? Mikey Romero? Cutter Coffey? Even Yorke. Sure, they may turn it around, but … not looking great.
I just can’t believe how much the Orioles have jumped past the Sox even when their ownership was barely spending.

Can blame Bloom for alot drafts aren’t one of them, GM usually doesn’t run the draft or do a whole lot outside of round 1.

After the 6-6 Angels come 7 against the 9-3 Guardians, 3 against 9-4 Pittsburgh, 3 against the 7-5 Cubs before San Fran and Minnesota. We will find out a lot more about this team in the next 16 games.

I’m just curious who the Os trade. The amount of talent they have in AA or above that still isn’t in the league is scary.
Like guys that could push Mountcastle/Santander/Mullins out of the lineup it’s insanity

Remember when the O’s still had Davis and were playing like four or five first basemen at once (Mountcastle at 3B, Mancini in COF, etc)
We started three second basemen tonight. I think we’re good on second base for a while.

I’ve got a question: if a guy has his wrist in a brace, he’s been on the roster for two days, and we have a very easy 40-man opening (Story to 60-day), what exactly is the upside to not bringing a body up from Worcester? Is six or seven days of Romy really that important?
10-day IL versus sitting a couple of games and then being available for what otherwise would be the back end of that stint
Call someone up, ldo

Legitimately how many guys would we have that would start for the orioles this year? i count Casas and Devers (DHing), and that’s probably it? Maybe Duran beats out Cowser but that feels like a toss up.

Red Sox are on an 87-win pace, despite a pretty tough schedule to this point. Decent start to the season!

Sounds like Devers will miss at least some of the Angels series by the way he was talking post-game tonight. "I've been feeling it since Spring Training," Devers said. "But every time I was swinging, I was feeling it a little bit more and more. So for me, I think like two or three days [off] could be enough. I hope it doesn't keep bothering me after these two or three days but that's something I can't control. That's why I'm just trying to keep working to get stronger, to get my shoulder back in a good way.” x.com/ianmbrowne/status/1778643790388961348?s=46Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

We could have simply put him on the IL on the second day of the season and found a way to live without the 500 OPS he's put up since then or whatever it is and he'd probably be fine now

Maybe, but we don’t know that this isn’t a significant injury that he’s trying to play through.

You have to tip your hat to the Orioles and call them your daddies. #pedro

Just a deeply flawed roster. A poor defensive team that lacks right handed power. I don’t think there’s a more frustrating way to lose than looking like a little league team fielding grounders.

Are we allowed to revise our win predictions? According to FanDuel, no!

This series really was a kick in the balls. I mean we get up 5-0. Last night 2-1 in the eight. I can’t stand the infield crap. Dropping bobbling balls. You count on Story to play ss and he is your big bat .

Bringing up "Bloom's failures in the draft" while ignoring Roman Anthony is picking cherries IMO. I put blooms failures in quotations because GMs from what I understand don't really impact the draft as much as one might think. He also drafted Mayer and Teel but those were kinda slam dunk picks but still.

Also this is ignoring the fact that most of these draft classes during his tenure look like they could be pretty good lol I get why people would be frustrated about Yorke (though I think It’s wildly ignorant of at least three significant contextual factors), but anyone that thinks those drafts are bad needs to go look at what an average draft across the league looks like. They’re not exceptional but they’re pretty solid.
