They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Tough pitching matchups on the other side: an ace, a budding soon-to-be ace, and a lefty.

Bello and his day game struggles. Let's see if he can overcome them

Optimistic take — they take 2 out of 3. They ride the high of the opening day festivities and win game 1. Game 2 they laugh at swerving Cole Irvin. Game 3 they get absolutely fisted by Grayson Rodriguez.
Fatalistic take — they get swept. Bello’s day game struggles aren’t resolved and the infield continues its headaches without Story. Game 2, the lefty struggles are real and can’t muster much offense. Game 3, well — same as my optimistic take, lol. Rodriguez seems to have finally found his prospect pedigree.

Seems likely we'll be getting pretty strict platoons at SS and 2B for a bit

Bello is going to get worked if here continues to pitch without any thought behind it.
He really needs to evolve as a pitcher in that regard

Isaiah Campbell, be prepared to get acquainted with the Orioles top of the order:
Henderson (L) Rutschman (S) Santander (S)

Romy Gonzalez up: Physical Description: Medium, athletic frame. Still has some room to add strength to his upper half even in his late 20s. Hit: Starts in a closed stance with hands held high. High toe tap. Smooth upward swing path. Swing can get long at times. Above-average hands, quick bat. Barrels up well but chases and whiffs at high rates. Fringe-average overall bat tool. Power: Above-average over the fence power. Run: Above-average to better speed. Smart baserunner. Defense: Utility man capable of playing all outfield and all infield positions. Best suited for middle infield. Average to better defender. Solid instincts and baseball IQ. Arm: Fringe-average arm strength. Career Notes: Spent three seasons playing for the University of Miami. Cape Leaguer All-Star with Orleans in 2017. Spent five seasons in the White Sox system. Summation: Valuable up-and-down player due to defensive versality, speed, and power. Note: This page will be updated with a complete scouting report after the scouting team has seen the player in person. www.soxprospects.com/players/gonzalez-romy.htm

Ian on the podcast describes Romy as a "45" SS. I’d probably grade the other SS options as that or lower too, I’ll take a 45 there

I'd like to see another lefty for this series, the Os have had some struggles versus lefty SPs this year, Detmers and Ragans shut them down, and sure those are good Ps, but then so did Bailey Falter and Marco Gonsalves. They've had a lot of late inning production, but really haven't hit much outside of the 1st two games of the season. I know Campbell serves as a bit of similar purpose, but I'd prefer to see a true lefty for specific spots- 2 on and 2 outs in the 6th or 7th for example.
I'd actually think they should consider calling up Jacques or Bernie, and then optioning them tmrw, then call up Romy with the Lefty starting. I honestly think if Jacques or Bernie were pitching well (or Lutge was on the 40 man) there would be a good chance they would do that.
