Opening Day Lineup:
Duran LF Devers 3B O’Neill RF Casas 1B Yoshida DH Rafaela CF Valdez 2B McGuire C Hamilton SS
Those top 6 guys are going to play every day - Cora is gonna be getting weird with possibilities for the bottom third of the order

Ehh, I think we've got a 50+, he just happens to be an 80 in CF Definitely fair, I just figure they probably plan on keeping him out in CF now that they have both Romy and Hamilton up For sure, those guys are getting the starts for now. We have seen Cora get creative bringing Cedanne in to 2B then back out to CF the other night, if we're running platoons at both 2B/SS I suspect that will happen more. Not a huge fan of the extra inning runner but it does lessen the need to keep options on the bench in case, might as well take advantage of that flexibility!

Does anyone know why McGuire is playing so much more than Wong. Is it just a strict platoon? I don't recall that being the case last year.

He’s catching well. Both of them, they are really good at what they do. But right now Reesey is swinging the bat well and that’s why he’s playing more.” You hit, you eat.

Sox pitchers lead MLB with 10.5 K per game. Sox batters are 2nd in MLB in striking out per game at 10.3 trailing only Cincinnati's 10.5.

Funnily enough, Wong himself has a 107 wRC+, which would be phenomenal if he could keep it up all season. (But it comes with a .500 BABIP and .209 xwOBA. (But also in only 15 PAs.))
McGuire, who nobody seems to like, has 2.2 WAR in 340 PAs with the Red Sox.

McGuire is usually more of the BABIP wizard, but this year he’s barreling balls, gonna be fun to watch!

Isn't there an old adage that catchers develop late? Reese was a 1st round pick in 2013 out of high school, and turned 29 in March. He has had a... colorful early part of his career. I don't expect us to be filling out Reese McGuire All-Star ballots anytime soon, but maybe there's a bit more in there than "Kyle Teel Placeholder"?

Yoshida up to .359 xwOBA on the year, would have been 30th in baseball last year. A wOBA of .359 is exactly what Devers had and would be something like a 125-135 wRC+.

Ref is starting his rehab tomorrow. Guessing he's coming for Abreu's spot not Romy's

I am very excited for Grissom at 2b. I am… whatever the opposite is… of Grissom at SS.

You know, after Jarren Duran, maybe I'm okay playing guys at positions they look awful at for years because it'll all work out in the end.

Pivetta to the 15-day IL (retroactive to April 6) with a flexor strain. Bernardino up.

We couldn't make it to the home opener without half the team falling apart. Just have to laugh at the absurdity

How the moral has changed in the last hour or so. Not sure if the scream or laugh.

If you have mlb network well worth watching right now. They've got Kevin Millar bringing a bunch of the 04 guys on for interviews. Just had Manny, now Orlando Cabrera is on.
