I was about to post the exact same thing. Cherington mentioned it on the D&C show, praised his ability to dominate AAA hitters for the last year.
Congratulations, Jose!

Good for him, 27 years old and still yet to make his MLB debut.

So the 25-man roster move is obvious with Webster back down, but how about the 40-man?
My guess would be Morales to the 60-day DL.

Probably. Morales' 30-day rehab began yesterday and could be pushed until June 6. Not sure how far back his DL stint can be backdated. Assuming April 1 (beginning of season), then 60 days would end on May 30.
Morales pitched two innings (24 pitches) yesterday. Assuming a best case scenario, Morales would pitch three innings (40 pitches) on the 14th (no game on the 13th), four innings (55 pitches) on the 19th, five innings (70 pitches) on the 24th and six innings (85 pitches) on the 29th. This would line Morales up to return on June 3.
They could also easily DFA Holt, but my guess is Morales. If Hanrahan needs TJ, they'll be able to free up another 40-man spot in short order, without wasting a potential asset.
EDIT: changed pitching timing, because of off day.

Brock Holt is not listed on the Pawtucket lineup card that was tweeted from the PawSox account this morning. He hasn't been listed in the transactions on the web site. My bet is he's getting DFA.
Makes sense to do it now while his numbers stink in the hopes that he'll clear.

If it's not Holt I'm wondering if 60 day DL for Hassan is a better choice than Morales. Even if they want to stretch him out, by not putting him on the 60 he could still be avail to get called up before that if someone else goes down in the pen.

Someone tweeted earlier that since Hassan is on the 7 day DL, they'd have to call him up to Boston in order to put him on the 60 day DL. Does that even make any difference? Is it a service time issue?

Players the 60-day DL is a major-league disabled list, so yes, he'd need to be "called up" in a technical sense. Wouldn't need to be with the team or anything, but he would collect a Major League paycheck.
Today is the 48th day Morales has been on the DL. Will he be ready before 12 days?

Definitely not Holt - he is in Boston, presumably in case Middlebrooks had to go on the DL.

Ugh. I would've taken Snyder with his extremely limited games of 3rd base experience over Holt and his empty offense. Or do they want to replace Middlebrooks current OPB in the line-up, too?
ADDED ?@timbritton Red Sox v. Correia: Ellsbury, Victorino, Pedroia, Ortiz, Napoli, Nava, Middlebrooks, Drew, Ross. Lackey.
Will giving it a go apparently.

Players the 60-day DL is a major-league disabled list, so yes, he'd need to be "called up" in a technical sense. Wouldn't need to be with the team or anything, but he would collect a Major League paycheck. Is it that simple, though? I can't find any provision in the rules for moving a player from the minor league 7-day DL to the major league 60-day DL. He was optioned to the minors 3/12, started the season on the PawSox roster, then placed on the PawSox DL 4/7 (retroactive to 4/4, the date of the first PawSox game). Though he didn't play for the PawSox, I think if they didn't establish his injury while he was on the major league roster in spring, he can't be placed now on the major league DL due to an injury incurred while on a minor league roster. (Or, more specifically, I think they'd actually have to activate him as a major leaguer, then DL him, which would restart the clock.) I realize it's irrelevant for now, and it's possible that players on the 25-man will continue to develop crippling injuries faster than players either get added to the 40-man or recover from DL stints and need roster spots, but I'd be interested to know if they could switch him to the 60-day so easily. Also, I kind of hope De La Torre doesn't actually make his debut until tomorrow, because I'd like to be there with the camera. So I'm hoping for the Lackey CG.

Wondering if the extreme bouts of wildness Hanrahan experienced towards the end of last year weren't an early sign of problems. His first few games this year were solid, but it fell apart very quickly.

Apologies for bringing up such an old topic..
With JDLT DFA'd from the 40 man to clear a space for Bucholz. Is it in hopes still of him coming back to Pawtucket next year anyway after nearly 2 years from arm surgery and see if he can help?
Beato (after reading the tweet) helped more when called up to the Sox than did JDLT and may have possibly been claimed this time around is my thinking why he wasn't removed.

Also worth noting that if De La Torre ends up leaving the organization with nothing in return, it will officially end, Kevin Youkilis' long history in Boston. De La Torre, is all that is left from last years trade.

its a shame to see De La Torre designated when he was. I felt he had good stuff watching him, just some control issues and got to much of the plate. He will be a good pitcher with the Brewers for awhile.
