Quevedo is a guy to watch. Seems like he has good stuff but this is his first stint in the minor leagues so he's understandably raw. Control seems to be a particular problem. Thanks for the report.

Quevado just hit 97 on the Sox gun then 96 then 95. A pitch on the 80s has induced some grounders. But a run scored when natoli's throw from 3b sailed on what should have been the third out
Quevado's pickoff throw to first is very hard
Inning ends on a CS. Swihart's throw was perfect and hit the glove at ground level and was waiting for the runner's foot to arrive

Kdlc long 2b to rf. Jacobs singles him in and steals 2nd. Renfroe hits it 395 feet but cf wall is 400 so f8. Swihart hits liner over short on 3-2 pitch after taking s close one to drive in run. Nice piece of hitting. Ramos lines a single. Pitching change to a sidewinding lefty. Cecchini's dad has come to sit not far from the guys charting the game, talks to them s tiny bit
German hits cueshot down lf line (he is lhh), scores one, scores another when bobbled. Throw goes home then back to 3b and gedman is out. Natoli hits possible 2b to rf line but rf makes a nice diving catch.
Salem up 5-4

AT what point do you stop sending the guy out there to get stoned. Is it time to send him to XST to get some help with whatever he needs help with? Is it mechanical? Is it mental? IS it health? Or all of the above? I assume it's at least part mechanical and part mental. Shouldn't he be figuring things out in a more controlled setting than in AA games where he's getting lit up/can't find the strike zone? This can't be helping the mental aspect.

Bard should not be on the mound in any competitive game right now.
I mean any game they keep score.

Methinks the Daniel Bard experience is coming to an ignominous end soon.
1+IP, H, 2ER, 5BB, 2WP, 30 pitches, 8 strikes
(BB, BB, WP, 1B, 3-6 DP, 6-3; BB, WP, BB, BB (pulled))
Portland scores three in the 9th to tie the game at 4. Sea Dogs pitchers have walked 14 batters tonight, in eight innings. (Ryan Schimpf has one of the rarest feats in baseball - a five-walk game (in less than nine innings))

Quevado goes 4 2/3 gives up one run, throwing 95 in the 9th. Swihart nice play on Naquin bunt. Q gets Lindor to groundouts for last out. Salem wins 5-4

Just guessing, but noticed that they allowed him to finish the inning. I would not be surprised if they gave him a few more outings of this nature, sink or swim, but the clock is ticking close to midnight.

If there wasn't a mental issue, at this point you're creating one by continuing to run him out there like this.

Can someone explain to me why Bard hasn't been shut down at this point? This isn't helping anyone.

I had noticed that Quevedo had a lot of ground balls, some with broken bats. But I see from the box score that he had ten ground balls, no flys, and 2 ks. Some grounders were on the mid 90s fb, some on a breaking pitch in the 80s.

FYI Pawsox 1B/OF Mark Hamilton is out with a broken wrist. per Hamilton himself he said it happened while sliding for a ball on their recent road trip, big loss for Pawsox.

Wasn't he in running to be the Red Sox pitching coach this off season?

Sawdaye is still in charge of the draft isn't he. He has been great for a long time. Whatever the problem was last year, let him fix it. Whoever made the final decision last year messed up, but it's very doubtful one guy caused it all. Wasn't he given more responsibility though in the last year or 2?
The organization had a lot of turmoil the last few years. All the way down the ranks with Theo and others leaving and the whole BV fiasco. Resumes were probably flying all over the place. And the draft wasn't as strong as normal and if you miss on even a few people things can get pretty ugly.
