Excellent start to the game for Owens (6 up, 6 down, 3k/0bb). Hasn't let a ball out of the infield.

Now the only baserunner (a walk) for Owens, he erased on a pickoff.
EDIT: two flyouts in the fourth for Owens, looks like he's fading (joke)
EDIT2: leadoff walk in the 5th for Owens must have made him mad, two more Ks to retire the side.

Haeger pitched well before a 2R HR in the 7th. 102 pitches... first MiL SP to hit triple digits this year?

Big O wants the all-star berth. No hitter gone, though.

Out, Double, Out, Single and a run is in against Owens, still a really nice start after struggling in two of the last three.

Have to be encouraged by Maddox's start coming off the DL against an offensive Asheville team.

Xander Bogaerts is beastly. What's most impressive is not just that he's starting to pile up extra base hits, but that the power is sandwiched in with a lot of walks. The slugging is up to .478 but even as it climbs, so has the .OBP. It's up to .380, 90 pts above the avg. He's picking pitches he can hit and getting on base often even if he doesn't get them.

When I checked the box, he was 0-2, but 0K, 2BB. I know we don't like to overvalue walks, but for a kid who is age advanced and has shown an ability/desire to hammer fastballs, pitch recognition is obviously going to be key.
Last 6 games: 8 for 19, 7BB, 2K.
I hope Iggy can hit well enough for it not to be critical (especially with some inconsistent defensive reports), but next Spring might be the JBJ story all over, particularly if he gets to AAA for more than just the last month of the season.

Is this the first time all year Bogaerts' BA > Almanzar's BA?
