De La Rosa is losing after 3 innings 1 to 0. He has given up just 2 hits, but one was a homer. He has 4 K's

Don't look now but Brock Holt has made it back from .150 or so to .272...been on fire. Interesting kid. Apparently the Sox think well of him. How highly, don't know. He has hit for average in the minors and hit 292 in a small number of bats with the pirates, which was his first taste of the majors after about 4 years in the minors. Hard to get a read on how well he drives the ball. He has hit 30 doubles a few times in the minors, but no hr power. Looks like he can play 3rd, 2nd, and short, but how well I don't know. Does Chris or any else have a read on him. With Jose and Holt in play, Pedro the Neck is now expendable and could be a good grab for someone if they play him regularly.

Salem wins 3-2. With just 1 hit (2-R 2B by Jacobs) - and 9 BB's
Nice outing for Stroup

Holt got off to a very slow start this year. In 2012 he had 43 XBH b/t AA, AAA and the majors, and in 2011 had 40 XBH. He has double pop and a very good career minor league BA. I would not be surprised to see him easily over .300 with Pawtucket this year. He clearly is not chopped liver with the bat. Perhaps he has range and arm limitations, but IMO could be a fill-in at second and at times shortstop. Ciriaco has some competition.

OK, good. I thought I was the only one who noticed that he has a giraffe neck.

OK, good. I thought I was the only one who noticed that he has a giraffe neck. He's like Merton Hanks, without the cool dancing or ability to hit something hard.
