Per Evan Lepler, Kyle Kraus will be promoted from Greenville between games and will be making the game 2 start.
In other notes (courtesy of Richard Breen), Felix Sanchez was sent back to Salem and Yunior Ortega was added back to the Greenville roster. Also, Jason Garcia will undergo TJ surgery and miss the rest of the season.

My guess is that the Kraus countermove will be a Salem pitcher being paper moved off the roster (or to TIA), likely McCarthy.
They're going with an outside pitcher because Salem's not off until the 16th, and has another doubleheader on the 13th. That said, Heri Quevedo must be getting his rest skip, because he'd be pitching on six days' rest tonight. Also Kraus pitched an inning on Saturday. So yeah, I'm actually kind of confused by this one.

? about Deven Marrero. He missed some time earlier this year. He's heating up since his return. 2 for 2 tonight has his avg up to .276. Just got OPS over .700 For a first rounder, he doesn't get much talk good or bad. I'm as guilty as anyone complaining about the seasons of Johnson and Light. Is he viewed as a potential starting shortstop in MLB? Going to be hard to pass Xander. But, could be good trade bait if he can field his position and hit a little.

Cecchini has walked twice so far today and three times yesterday. I wonder if they are pitching to him anymore. There really isn't anybody else behind him that poses much of a threat. In his last ten games, he hit 273 and only 1 xbh. It could also just be the usual rhythms of a season, but why would they pitch to him after his torrid start? Just wondering.

The light hitting SS of choice at the moment appears to be Iglesias. Marrero seems to be on a fine path developmentally but not a whole lot to get excited about. Projects to hit in the bottom of the lineup and while his defense is good, it's not elite like Iglesias. Strange pick overall given some of the depth at the position in the system.

I think I read the other day that Marrero only had 1 error so far this year. He seems pretty steady at short with decent range.

DSL box score posted. No real individual stand-out performance, but the team was able to crank out 11 hits and 9 runs...granted, the Rays had 7 errors.

The DSL Rays shortstop today was "Bill Pujols" which totally sounds like a system-generated minor leaguer when playing a baseball video game in franchise mode.

This doesn't appear to be something that's all that rare in Latin America. The Cabral brothers were both named Cesar Cabral, but the younger brother went by his middle name, Ariel. Problem is that with twins, who goes by the middle name?

Really, what struck me is the middle names. Alexander and Alejandro? Really?

Keeping an eye on Cecchini and his walks. Doesn't seem to be getting much to hit recently. Small sample, but curious if its a start to a trend. I hope so... Force the Sox hand to promote him. Kid needs to spend a couple months in AA this year to put him on Boston's doorstep for 2014

Here is one kid we really need to keep and eye on in the DSL:
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Jose Almonte (W, 1-0) 5.0 2 1 1 2 4 0 1.80
Jose got a nice signing bonus, has good-size, and is just 17.
Great start to hopefully a great career!
