Almanzar making up for Bogaerts' absence, 3/3 with a 2B interesting to see if Almanzar starts working harder after seeing his buddy promoted to AAA

Well not only do we have something of a log-jam at third but Almanzar really doesn't belong there. By now he should have some sense of that.

As bad as he might be there (and as many 3B prospects as we have) it's always good to have a little positional flexibility, whether it's for getting your foot in the MLB door, or for trade value or whatever. I'm glad the Sox have continued to use him at 3B this season. I mean, Mauro Gomez played there last year for us!

Season high 18 swinging strikes for Ranaudo last night. Pretty impressive.

I think it can be easy to forget sometimes that the players themselves aren't looking at the system the way we do. They look at "I'm playing well" or "I'm playing poorly," and perhaps at what their current teammates are doing. I would bet good money that Michael Almanzar has no idea how Garin Cecchini is doing this year.

His bat plays so much better at 3rd. He is worth something still as a 3rd base prospect. He's got to be positioned for a trade I would think.
