Hey all, I'll be handling the Gameday threads for the next week while Jonathan is away. Some notes: - Eyes will certainly be glued to Xander Bogaerts, who made an impressive debut in his AAA campaign Friday by going 3 for 7 in a double header with a walk, stolen base, and a majestic home run that nearly cleared McCoy Stadium in deep left-center.
- Workman makes his second start for Pawtucket after going 5.2 IP in his debut last Sunday, where he allowed 3 ER while picking up the win. He had been 5-1 with a 3.43 ERA in Portland prior to his promotion.
- According to Kevin Thomas of the Portland Press Herald, Sea Dogs manager Kevin Boles has decided to skip Matt Barnes' start in order to give him rest. This is a routine decision made to protect pitchers in the Red Sox minor league system. Thomas notes Barnes may pitch Tuesday, and today is likely to feature an assortment of relievers. UPDATE: Michael McCarthy has been promoted from Advanced Class-A Salem to start for the Sea Dogs tonight. The 25-year-old was 3-2 with a 4.72 ERA in 14 games (9 starts) with Salem.
- The forecasts for today's games look excellent, with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s to low 80s.

Permanent moves, Amfox? They both seem deserving.

Appears so. There should be another move at Pawtucket to clear a spot.

Eh, I think McCarthy is just for a spot start. Normally they'd have Kehrt and Couch for those, but Couch moved into Workman's full-time rotation spot and Kehrt started a game this week already.
Huntzinger had been being used as Portland's closer (which isn't necessarily a good thing). I believe that he, Anthony Carter (Pawtucket's closer), and Nate Striz (Salem's sorta-closer) have been the only RP's in the system to work on consecutive days.
By the way, we're waiting on two Salem counter-moves, for the activations of Mickey Pena (from the restricted list) and Tim Roberson (from the DL) yesterday.
As we have on the team rosters page, the "countermove" for Huntzinger right now is probably Wilson being 'yet to report', but they'll eventually need to make room.

I'd really like to see Wilson get a F/T job in the Sox BP, but it's so deep that it looks like he'll be on the roller coaster all season.

De La Torre to TIA is the Huntzinger countermove. this seams weird considering how well he has done. Maybe they are planning on putting him back in Boston after the 10 day window?

Mortensen can be activated something like 4 days later, so I don't think so. I think things are just crowded. TIA means he can be activated in a day or two.

Is Aceves currently with Boston or Pawtucket? On the team page he is listed on both?
Never mind. Found it on the transactions page. Missed it when I first checked.

They clearly rushed him, get him back to Portland. (At least until after 6/30).

Almanzar goes 2/3 with a triple and a walk. Over his last 10 games (33 AB) he's only struck out once. Would love to see him keep hitting and force a promotion to AAA over the next couple months.
