Strange line for Kukuk today - 5 innings, no hits, 4 K's - and 7 BB's.

De La Rosa wheelin' & dealin'. Seven Ks in 6 innings, all of 63 pitches. That is not easy to do. It helps that he's given up one hit, and no walks.

Rubby making his case for a spot start in Boston - a very efficient 6 IP, NO WALKS, 1H, 7K's on only 63 pitches, 43 strikes. Fantastic. This is very encouraging.

I wouldn't give Rubby a spot start until he's been at 6+ (and having success there) for a while, but yeah awesome start and really encouraging to see.

Not sure I really want him to be making spot starts or not, but he making his case. And Webster isn't even making it 5 innings - so why the hell not give Rubby an opportunity if he can show a string of starts with some efficiency.

Mortenson just as good at blowing leads in AAA as he is in Boston. I thought he went to the DL. Is he really "healed" already?

I'd rather not mess with his development/recovery. I don't think Webster can, or should make another spot start either, so I think all of the starts possible go to Aceves, and maybe Workman gets added to the 40 man to make a start or two if needed.

I don't agree at all.
Clearly we have a yearly innings limit.
Now that he is stretched out, any non MLB inning is a waste.
He belongs in the rotation now.
Prospects let you know when they are ready.

He's had exactly one start where he went 6 innings (at which point he was promptly pulled despite a low pitch count because he's obviously still on a limit and building strength), and he'd walked 10 batters in his previous 15 innings; he may let us know when he's ready, but he certainly hasn't yet.

Dan Gulbransen stole home against ty buttrey What happened is the runner took off from first to draw a throw and get caught in a rundown. Runner from third scored due to poor rundown execution from Spinners infield.

Even 9 years later this game sticks in my head: www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TBA/TBA200405200.shtml4.2IP, 4H, 6ER, 9BB, 8K (and a hit batsman for good measure) 133 pitches in those 4.2 innings pitched.

Kyle Stroup, why have you forsaken us?
Noe Ramirez looking strong, though. Hard to get excited about relievers in Hi-A, but whatever, I'll try.
Why does a guy like Jack McGeary even stick around? Does he have a trust fund or something? This is his fifth year in the NY-Penn League. Maybe he works as a fisherman in the South Pacific from September to May and does this as a vacation every year. Kudos, Jack McGeary.

FWIW Mellen said on the latest podcast that Ramirez is a guy he could see eventually making a ML bullpen. And if you haven't listened to that podcast, definitely do so. There's some great info on Greenville and Salem.
