Any ideas as to why Dioscar Romero is still unassigned?

Would an appropriate new tag be for Barnes be? Jekyl/Hyde for his off and on performances this season?

Great to see Garin Cecchini have a nice game for Portland with 2 singles, 2 walks, and a RBI.

I think we need an updated scouting report for Sergio
Meanwhile, after starting 0-3 tonight, Xander ends up 2-5 with a HR.

Who has been the youngest position player to play for the Red Sox recently? Xander could be in the show before he's able to drink legally.

Probably Tony Conigliaro.
Edit: You mean recent, obviously Tony C is not recent, I can't think of a name but I don't think anyone has debuted before the age of 21 recently.

Dewey came up in Sep 72 at 20, and Rice was 21 in late 74. End of 90 Plantier was 21.

Mixed bag from Barnes: 5.0, 3H, 0ER, 8-5 K/BB, 2-1 GO/FO While he appears to have struggled with his control today I like that he limited the damage by keeping the runners from scoring. A well timed K is the great equalizer and Barnes still has that ability. AA is often a level pitchers struggle with especially the second time through the league and Barnes has had his struggles but overall I think he's thrown fine. The ERA may sit at 5.03 but remove two back to back bad outings on June 2nd (1.2 IP 7 ER) and June 8th (4 IP 4 ER) and his ERA sits at 3.79. He still has over an 11 K per 9 rate. Right now his main struggle is he's giving up too many base runners with 9.76 hits per 9 and 3.3 walks per 9. I think he makes a few adjustments and stays at AA the rest of the year producing a sub 3.50 ERA, a 10 + K per 9 and sub 3 BB per 9 from her on out.

Who has been the youngest position player to play for the Red Sox recently? Xander could be in the show before he's able to drink legally. going back to 1983 I see 15 Sox players who got at least a cup of coffee in their age 21 season. Only one player made it to the majors at age 20: Jeff Suppan (22 IP) Only 2 players got substantial playing time at age 21: Roger Clemens (133 IP) and Wilton Veras (127 PAs)

Who has been the youngest position player to play for the Red Sox recently? Xander could be in the show before he's able to drink legally. Give the kid a break. He's probably going to need the rest of the AAA season anyway to fully adjust to that level. It's only two months. A September callup, perhaps. That's about it. Of course, with an Oct. 1 birthday he would arrive at age 20. But let's not make this more than it will be. A first glance, with 2014 the real arrival time.

Yeah, give the kid a break. We all know he would hate to be promoted to the big leagues.

I'm sure it was just a fun-fact kind of thing. Not much to fret about.
