I'm surprised at the lack of national attention for Rubby. I would assume it's because he's not technically a "prospect" according to some places anymore, and he's already debuted in the bigs. But he's putting together an absurd end to the 1st half. It's not like he's old for a prospect or anything, he just debuted on the early side
If Rubby can average 100 pitches for 6 innings, that would be perfectly fine, especially a year removed from TJ. His command should only improve

He has been fairly efficient for the most part. I took the 92 pitches as good news because thats the first they have let him hit 90 pitches. Last time out he went 6 innings on 63 pitches. Today he probably would have gone 7 with a normal major league pitch count.
and as I said before, the no walks again I think is huge, as thats been the big knock against him this year.

Not to mention that Rubby only allowed 1 XBH a double. The guy is ready. At what point is he wasting innings that he doesn't have a unlimited supply of?
If Lester has to miss a start it will be time to see what Rubby can do in the bigs.

As soon as you hit the at bat or ip cut off, you are of little interest to most of national prospect gurus.

Completely agree with this. This with him, like Webster, had been the big caveat. If he can keep BB to 1-2 per 7 innings and they can get him up to 100 pitches he becomes a valuable asset for a spot start, a pen stint, or other options. Someone was telling me last week that they had the impression that the org would've preferred to use RDLR against Det., but it just didn't shake out that way (because of a rainout at AAA I think, which juggled start days). This will be interesting to watch.

Wasn't there a rain delay? Yup. Saw the rain delay as well. Thanks folks. Not sure how I missed that.

FYI, yesterday's DSL game was postponed due to rain. They just got around to posting that up on the box score this morning.

If Lester has to miss a start it will be time to see what Rubby can do in the bigs. I agree that he is ready but the reason he was in AAA to start with was to build his arm up to go near 100 pitches. I think he could perform as well as most of the SPs on the market.
