With yesterday's DSL game postponed, I would expect Carlos Garcia to get the start today, bumping everyone back a day.

GCL is truly a TBA today. It's either going to be someone who hasn't started yet or Willie Ethington on short rest.

Zach Good was assigned to the GCL today, so he'd be my guess.

Denney has had a week to take BP, any chance he hits the box score today?
Edit: Nope, but Dioscar is starting for the Sox.

Opposing pitcher is Nick Blackburn. May be too harsh for GCL kids.

Mark Hamilton got the start at first base for the GCL club, so yesterday's theory about him being activated by the PawSox is out.
Edit: Also, Adam posted that about an hour ago. Go me.

linkFrom Law's articles on Red Sox prospect: Their 2012 fifth-round pick, Mike Augliera, works at 90-93 with plus sink and even better control, touching 95 in shorter outings but losing sink at the same time; he's most likely a reliever (and thus not a future top-100 guy) but could move quickly in that role. From SoxProspects: Augliera does not have excellent velocity, topping out in the high 80s. However, he possesses a plus curveball and a good feel for his slider. He also led the nation in K/BB ratio, striking out 83 and walking only 7 during his senior season. I do note that he has a 2.97 G/F Ratio so he gets a lot of groundballs. The BA draft scouting report backs up the SoxProspect report stating: "Augliera is a 6-foot, 200-pound senior that has a fastball in the high 80s and shows feel for a slider. While he doesn't light up radar guns, he does paint corners. In 83 innings, he went 6-7, 3.16 and struck out 83 while walking just seven." I didn't really know where to post this BUT I guess my question is what is his real "stuff"...it seems Keith Law just is flat out wrong...working at 90-93 with good sink is alot different that painting corners and topping out in the high 80s.

this is the same article where he stated "The system's real shortage is in big-league ready talent", and that the pitcher with the second best chance to impact the majors the year was Drake Britton.

It seems to me that Raymel Flores gets a HBP in every game.

The college head baseball coach I know thinks that, unless the Sox somehow sign Boldt, Denney is the best player the Sox drafted if not an outright steal in the 3rd round. Says the bat will play anywhere they put him, but more important that he can be a legit catcher at a high level. FWIW

Is this supposed be some kind of discrediting of Keith Law, cause it sounds like a couple of completely innocuous statements to me.

Tweet from Ian Cundall regarding Buttrey. "Ian Cundall ? Ian Cundall 1m Ty Buttrey sitting 89-91 T93 with his FB through 4. Controlling better than last time I saw him, but command still iffy. #redsox" Wasn't he throwing in the low 90's in high school? I'd have to imagine he'd get stronger since joining the pros, but is it maybe more of just a radar gun thing?

William Cuevas has his 4th good outing in a row. When does he crack the top 60?

I think it needs to be pointed out that Blake Swihart has a higher OPS than Gary Sanchez at the same level and close to the same age (Blake is 8 months older)

Is Victor Acosta turning into someone to watch? hit his 4th home run in game 1 on the DSL double-header, going 2-3 on the night. He's 17 so it's not like he's one of those guys who's been through the league a few times. Also, if I recall correctly, power is pretty rare in the DSL, correct? As in generally low HR rates?

Yep he is definitely one to watch, I remember Ben Badler of BA pointed him out as a interesting signing or something. He's one of the youngest in the team actually.
And yes it's really hard to hit HRs in the DSL, I think Xander hit 3 or 4 if I remember correctly. The Red Sox's DSL field seems to be tough for hitters too.
