Ok, so it's apparent at this point that Matt Barnes is very prone to having a games where he doesn't pitch well despite striking out a bunch of guys. He's like the Anti-Gerrit Cole. At least very prone to the HR ball this season. 4 runs on 2 HRs today.

Is this the right place to ask if Vitek is always as bad in left field as he has been the last two games? He doesn't seem to have any read on where the ball is going, or how to pick it up and throw in some direction that might land near a waiting glove. I know, I know, sss observation, so that's why I'm asking if this is normal for him. His writeup does mention suspect fielding and position changes.

He's fairly new to the position.
Barnes is a big disappointment this year but it's not uncommon for pitchers to have years like this and bounce back as they are learning.

GCL gets Sundays off. It'll be McGrath on Monday. Regarding the GCL pitchers, I forgot about the day off tomorrow, so you are definitely right about McGrath. I still could see the Heras piggyback as a signal there will be a new starter next week at some point, but we will see. In other news, Chris Carpenter pitched two innings with the Pawsox so obviously he is no longer rehabbing with Lowell. I assume Stank will fill that roster spot now that he is signed. Rehabbing players don't take up roster spots, and Lowell was below the limit anyway. Speaking of rehabbing players, Matt Maloney still hasn't pitched and his rehab stint ls something like 14 days old. Also, Matt Spalding was demoted to the GCL after two uninspiring outings for Salem. Hearing the velo was down in the 80s. Not good for him.
