So is Cecchini the next Wade Boggs or the next George Brett? Mike Newman said he could be pre 2012 Chase Headley (.269/.344/.387).

Gun to your head, Cecchini vs Coyle, who you got? Is this a real question? I think this was the topic of a thread on these forums before the season started. Argument for Coyle was that he was better defensively and was more age-advanced.

Should we care that Shaw is now hitting home runs? Can't really get excited. He had a nice April and a terrible May - in his last 10 he's back to walking more than striking out, plus he's showing the HR power. I figured the home runs would come eventually, but I think the key is keeping walks up, K's down. May excluded, he has 41 walks and 46 Ks on the year. IF he can produce like that going forward I think he has a shot.

I believe the amazing part of the Coyle-Cecchini argument was one which took Coyle's .750 SLG and corrected it to suggest he'd slug .600 this year, or something equally insane.
The impressive thing about Cecchini is that the approach has translated between levels. Strikeouts are up, but the walk rate is still great (1/gm), and you've seen him taking what he can get, starting off with singles, working in the power when it came. It's a different sort of adjustment from Xander, at each of AA/AAA the past two years (more power, fewer walks).

I believe the amazing part of the Coyle-Cecchini argument ... was that everyone agreed on Cecchini so for once, everyone agreed on something & everyone was right?
