Where does JDM rank of the list of Best Free Agent Signings in team history? Certainly behind Pedro, Papi and Manny.

As bad as that Semien contract is(and it’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen), that Corey Seager deal will end up being even WORSE. Seager breaks down waaay to often. Friedman is smart. Wonder if they keep Trae Turner.

The NL Central second place St. Louis Cardinals have been the favorite in recent trade talks revolving around Bogaerts. They have the farm system to compete and are in dire need of a shortstop. If a trade were to happen between the two teams, MLB Insider Jim Bowden presents a scenario where the Cardinals acquire Bogaerts for their No. 2 prospect, 2B/3B Nolan Gorman, contingent on Bogaerts signing a long term contract in the range of eight years. Taking a deeper dive into this potential trade, Gorman has produced at the Triple-A level of the Cardinals organization so far this season. His line sits at .287/.350/.648 with 12 homers, 3 doubles, 18 RBIs, 23 runs, and 31 hits in 28 games. If this trade were to happen, the Red Sox could place Gorman at second base and replace Bogaerts at shortstop with offseason addition Trevor Story, who played 733 games there with the Colorado Rockies. bosoxinjection.com/2022/05/12/red-sox-news-xander-bogaerts-trade-rumors-start-heat/?a_aid=36534Sorry I didnt know where else to put this and this a blog site, and Bowden speculating, but I found it interesting. The kick in the teeth here though means no hopes of bringing back Xander, but that's rare to begin with. Not sure what happens with X. The FO view is probably they dont want to buy the declining years as he turns 30 soon. Not sure if they consider how they treat their legacy FA as important to other FAs from other teams they might sign down the road. Those FAs might think if they can do X like that what does that say for how they will treat me? Anyway I really thought the interesting part of the blog was what type of compensation they might get should they deal him in what looks to be a non playoff season.

You know I distinctly remember some of you (take a bow if it was you) posting on this very board back during the 2018 dream season that "man oh man we are going to pay for the excesses of the Dombrowski era in three or four years down the road". You could not have been more right. This feels like February and March after you put Christmas on a high interest credit card.

We truly are atrocious at the bullpen positions. And first base has shown for years he can’t hit anything but hrs. Chaim is going to learn FAST this isn’t Tampa bay. Fans don’t tolerate THIS level of god awfulness for long. Nor do the many sponsors. He needs to hope the next 2 months come out with something positive or the chants for his job will increase and place major pressure on him to come out of gate hot next year. ( I don’t think that’s happening when Xander. Jd. Euvaldi all are gone). This could easily be the beginning of the 3 year run at gm of Chaim bloom Bloom is most likely safe this year would be my guess. The alcs run last year probably will buy him a buffer and the farm rising in the rankings in his time will help. I'm circling this coming offseason as the key for Bloom in terms of staying or going. He really has yet to put a stamp on the team. I would say he'd be better damn well put his stamp on the team next year. I agree Bloom makes it through the year. Ownership wanted a slightly more expensive version of TB, apparently easier said than done. Actually the rest of year and off season should be pretty interesting IMO. Something has to give though.

Is Bloom waiting for an invitation to fix the closer spot or something? Feel free to make a few changes Chaim.

Paxton having physical issues? I am Casablanca-levels of shocked. Sox could’ve dropped $6 million out of a plane. Sale having physical issues? I am Casablanca-levels of shocked. Sox could've dropped $145 million out of a plane. this is so interesting. The Sale contract had big risk looking back on it, no doubt. And the outcome is bad for the Sox and really won't end up great . If the choice was given to me, on this day though, I would still prefer to give Sale the deal and not Paxton. Look at this way, yeah the Sale contract appears to be epic disaster but, they got a ring out of it, and whenever you feel depressed you can go online and watch Sale corkscrew Machado into the ground for the final out 2018 WS.

On another note. how is it that Ohtani can be so good as pitcher and hitter. We are watching history with this guy. Ohtani is insane and closest we will ever see to Babe Ruth. I just spent $90 on an Ohtani collectible. I do this for no other player from another team I'd bet in 10 years depending on scarcity, you will find it was well spent money.

Team is broken right now. Question is does this become a "bridge" year or do they do some major surgery during the season? Hopefully Bloom is making some calls because this at the moment looks like the 2023 pick will be top 5.

Is it? I dont see that many players aside from the obvious ones that other teams would just love to have. Wasn’t this same team a few wins from the WS? Don’t think we lost all that much in Renfroe and Adam. I thought Cora did one of his best jobs last year and team over achieved. Right now looks like a very hard regression to the mean.

Yanks have won 9 in a row. Feels like they have beaten up on bad teams. Unfortunately we havent been able to do that, last couple days case in point.

Sad this Jaylin Davis waiver wire pickup is best hitter today. Reminds me of the line from Animal House: 2 C's 2 D's and an F. Congratulations you are at the top of the class. And what the hells wrong with Raffy? Since the start of the season and spring training he has fallen off a cliff. Not gonna get that big contract that way.

Don’t look now, but it’s May 1st and the Red Sox are 7.5 games behind the Yankees. Anyone who isn’t pushing the panic button is not paying attention. I have seen too many baseball seasons to check out this early. Teams catch fire mid season etc. Atlanta last year, Nationals in 19, even MFY 78. And yes I am aware those were more talented teams than this one. Still too early. Like I said a couple weeks ago, not getting Suzuki hurt big time.

The Red Sox are starting 5 guys that are batting below .200 today. Tomorrow is May 1st, btw. No more using “it’s early” as an excise anymore. Wonder if that is why two games into a series this thread has only 4 pages. I had to look twice to make sure I was in the right place.

The less this offense hits the more idc if they commit to bogaerts as a SS for 7 years He’s had a hell of a game tonight He’s been our most consistent player for the last 5 seasons. Consistent is so rare in baseball. He’s worth 6 years all the money. After taking the paycut the last few seasons. 6 years 210 would be my offer. Not sure what value Henry and Bloom put on legacy players these days.
