Dioscar Romero, who had gone 2 or 2.2 innings in other appearances, has gone 4 with 1h, 0bb, 3k.
update: no hits or walks or ks in his fifth inning, and no hits from two relievers.

Darn it was HOT in Sarasota today. FINALLY a day without rain. Not a lot to report. Romero was very solid. He seemed to be in a real rhythm throughout his 5 innings. According to a Pirates scout next to me he was hitting 96 several times. I've seen Romero several times and this may have been the best I've seen him. He certainly commanded the strike zone today.

You're darn right it was hot. After walking the dog 1 1/2 miles, there was no way I was going to sit in the sun for 2 hours more. Not today. I commend your fortitude! Glad to hear about Romero....impressive velocity. Man these kind of guys are springing up like weeds. It's nice to have a few on our side. Someday the mound may be moved back to accommodate the changing game.

Cody Kukuk's last three starts: 16.1 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 19 K
He's been all over the place this year, but his ceiling is very high if he can gain some semblance of command.

May not be significant at all, but noticed that they took Henry Ramos out of the game early. Was he hurt?

Henry O out after 5. No hit innings up to 14 2/3. Does an inning count if he gives up a lead-off hit and then retires the next three? I didn't count that inning. No earned runs in these last 3 starts either 17 2/3.

I was kind of hoping he got traded, darn. (not because I don't like him because I still want a pitcher via trade)

I was sitting 2nd row directly behind home plate and did not hear anything, so if Ramos said anything, it was at no more than conversation level, nor did he use any hand gestures, plus he was walking towards the dugout, so it could not have been more than a word or two. Anyways, the trip was to see Owens pitch. His command was off, not the strikeout machine he is at other times. Yet Potomac got no hits off him. There was a pro scout there next to me, I did not hear what team he was scouting for or whom he was scouting - sorry.

Dedgar Jimenez with yet another strong outing: 4IP 2H 0ER 1BB 6K Just to follow up, his season line is: 39IP 29H 7ER 5BB 38K. That is good for a 1.62 ERA and 0.87 WHIP.

So Owens now is unhittable at A+. Does that get him promoted?

15.7 straight hitless for Owens now the last 3 starts. Of course he does have 10 walks in that time.
