He passes the look test. If he and the Red Sox are patient, hopefully he will become an asset.

BA had a write up on Jervenski Green-Thompson Johnson for subscribers the other day: www.baseballamerica.com/minors/jervenski-johnson-defies-usual-ndfa-stereotype/Notes: - $85k bonus, so he wasn't "over-slot" or anything. Signed by Jon Adkins.
- 6.44 60 (yowza)
- Played in 10th grade, didn't in 11th, and returned to the game in 12th. He was committed verbally to Arkansas, but didn't get his test scores high enough, early enough, to get a formal offer, hence why he was headed to SE Louisiana.
- Blossomed this summer playing travel ball, paying for private hitting lessons between games.
- Manuel uses the word "raw" multiple times. Johnson even admits as much: “I didn’t really know too much about baseball,” Johnson told the Daily Star newspaper in Hammond. “I have a lot more learning to go.”

Johnson seems like a long shot, but what they hey. You just do not see many guys who focused more on say football than baseball make it in the majors. The multi-sport guys that do usually played baseball a lot growing up so that when they were in their late teens many of the skills were "learned" or "second nature".
BTW, after a hot start with his new team Brandon Jacobs is hitting .223 for them with his usual high strike outs. Ramos was making some progress but is stuttering now. Perkins is enjoying a good stretch right now but until this month had been bad.

This keeps getting reported but I believe it's incorrect. From my research it seems like he did play baseball his junior year but he was at a different high school. He transferred from Amite to Ponchatoula for his junior season, then transferred back to Amite for his senior year.
