Gave consideration to Welch, but I went with Betts... cause of the RBI!

Gave consideration to Welch, but I went with Betts... cause of the RBI!The only consideration for Welch was the incredible 8:3 BB:K rate. As impressive as it was, Mookie's line is undeniably better.

Someone voted for Welch just to screw the anonymous vote.

Someone voted for Welch just to screw the anonymous vote. I voted for Welch mostly because of the K/BB ratio (Mookie was only on base 1 more time than Welch, and all else being - relatively - equal, I like seeing the plate discipline from a young guy like that). I had no way of knowing what the voting looked like before I placed my vote.

Yeah, Mookie had a higher OBP and SLG and OPS and also had a 2 to 1 BB/K ratio, plus 4 SB's. Yeah, and the age.
Appreciate you standing up and explaining your reasoning, though. I could care less if the vote was unanimous or 38 to 1. It was simply a curiousity for me.

The age doesn't matter when we're specifically asked to ignore prospect status and only look at the production alone, and Mookie only had a higher slugging because of 5 singles (Welch's 4 additional walks don't count toward slugging even though they are worth exactly as many bases as a single), and his OBP is only higher because he was on base one more time in 2 fewer plate appearances. Like I said, everything else was really, really close to equal, but Welch's 8 walks to 3 strikeouts impressed me more than Mookie's 5 singles.
