It's a shame Trenton hadn't lost one more. Portland would have 'just' needed 4 games, and won the tiebreaker. A 5 game sweep is hard, but harder without Barnes now.

Bard sent to Lowell for more fun/rehab. My thought on this is that they're progressing his "rehab", his progress be damned, to evaluate whether he's worth a 40-man spot in the offseason or if he's truly f'd beyond their ability to fix him.

GCL finals go to a game 3 and might go. Was hesitant to go that far today (Viera is around 100 miles from here) as it poured before the game at Tampa even. Long way to go if a game rains out.

GCL Sox up 3-0 top of 7th and the box is not refreshing after that. Is there a rain interruption?

I wonder how many GCL coaches have high blood pressure. I noticed the long pause too, never a good thing when your not batting

GCL Sox up 3-0 top of 7th and the box is not refreshing after that. Is there a rain interruption? Box has refreshed and the problem seems to have been the 8-spot the Nationals threw up in the bottom of the frame (the "live" GCL boxes sometimes update after each half-inning). All the runs scored w/ 2 outs.

GCL Sox up 3-0 top of 7th and the box is not refreshing after that. Is there a rain interruption? Nope. A Nats explosion, as they hang an eight-spot on the Red Sox. 8-3, end 7th.

I wonder how many GCL coaches have high blood pressure. HAHA, yeah and good point. Telling runners at 2b sometimes how far to get off the bag, then "stop" then take off even. I was amazed. It's a teaching experience way more than High A Ball (Florida State league) that for some of the players you can tell is the 1st real instruction they have ever had. Good point you brought up also. The coach (manager at 3b) has a major job on his hands.

For what it is worth, conversations by Farrell suggests that Bard wanted the "extra time". Sounds like the Sox know more or less what they want to do already. Eric Van made a good argument that an injury is (or was) at the root of his problems, but Bard began to have issues the year before, starting in late August. If he was hurt then, you would believed he healed during the off season. Regardless, time is running out for the kid.

Great to see Ball with no walks for the second outing in a row. No expectation for him this year obviously, but it is nice to see that he has seemingly made some sort of adjustment.

Can we please stop sending Bard out there for this team?
Enough is enough. Cut ties with him and move on. It sucks, but he's lost it.

Can we please stop sending Bard out there for this team? Enough is enough. Cut ties with him and move on. It sucks, but he's lost it. What really stinks? Boston is going to end up removing Bard from the 40 man roster and he's going to pull and Andrew Miller.. Return to his old self again IOW. Bard will never return to his old self with this organization is my feeling, it's a block. The team has tinkered with his mechanics and done everything. He's going to end up going to another organization, then return to his old UNC mechanics and then after a cpl of years.. He'll be back again with his head clear. It's not Boston's fault, it's not Bobby V's fault.. It's whoever stuck it into his head to become a starter and then forced him to continue that path when it was apparent from the beginning it was wrong with all the warning lights flashing.. Like no control, no velocity, no real 2nd pitch that could get anyone out etc.. Poor decision making and nobody ever held accountable over it.
